Every year there is usually one player that has an absurd season–something in the neighborhood of a .415 AVG with 30 runs scored–and runs away with the Player of the Year honors.

This season, there are actually a handful of players that fit that bill. It’s going to be nearly impossible to decide who deserves the awards.

Here’s a rundown of the top candidates in alphabetical order and their key stats…

Nick Girardi, St. Josephs: .418 AVG, (38-for-91), 18 R, 17 RBI, 7 BB, 5 K, .470 OBP, .549 SLG (1-1 W-L, 2 SV

Mike Marino, Farmingdale: .508 AVG (39-for-77), 23 R, 1 HR, 19 RBI, 13 BB, 15 K, 20-22 SB, .576 OBP, .688 SLG

Brendan Sullivan, St. Joseph’s: .417 AVG, (35-for-84), 12 R, 18 RBI, 10 BB, 10 K, .528 OBP, .524 SLG

Nick Yip, Old Westbury: .417 AVG (30-for-72), 20 R, 4 HR, 23 RBI, 8 BB, 9 K, .511 OBP, .750 SLG

Each player is more than qualified to win the award. After all, last year’s ECAC Player of the Year winner, Michael Sarni, of Purchase hit only .373 with 19 RBI on a team that finished barely over .500.

Personally, I believe Marino has meant the most to his team but Yip’s power has been unmatched. It will certainly go down to the wire.
