Pitching Leads WEST Warriors to Tournament Title
Led by their outstanding starting pitchers, who combined to allow only five total earned runs in four games, WEST Warriors 11U won the Championship at the 2024 Long Island Memorial Day Gold Glove Invitational in Central Islip, NY. To win the title game, the top-seeded Warriors struck twice in the first inning and never looked back, behind a dominant pitching performance by Dominic Lipari, beating second seed New York Empire 11u National 4-2. Lipari surrendered only 5 hits in a six-inning complete game victory, allowing just one earned run, which came in the fourth inning. Lipari struck-out three and didn’t walk a batter. West Warriors Surge to Take Tournament Title
Down to their last strike in pool play, WEST Warriors New York 13U went on to outscore their opponents 21-4, en route to the championship at the 2023 Memorial Day Invitational, 13u division. Trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning of their third and final pool game, and needing a win to advance, with the bases load and a two-strike count, Dylan Cappiello drove in two runs to tie the game. Jacob Krolick then launched a hard hit ball to the gap in left-center field bringing in the winning run, for a walk-off 8-7 come from behind win over Beast Red, securing the fourth seed, and final spot in the playoff round. The same can be said in the Spring Invitational game between the West Islip Lions and the West Warriors. This game was back-and-forth throughout the entire matchup until the Lions pushed away late to take a 10-4 victory in the 7 inning game.
