The Old Westbury Panthers are on fire, having won their eleventh consecutive game today against United States Merchant Marines academy 6-1. They fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but responded with six unanswered runs over the next eight innings to improve to 22-8. Dean Sheridan drove in Matt Taurisani with an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Panthers are 2-1 lead. That was not the case on Tuesday, as they narrowly edged Drew University 5-3, and it took a seventh inning run to break the tie.The Panthers were down 2-1 in the fourth inning but tied it up on a sac fly by catcher Carlos Balmaceda to score Jacob Coners.Drew took the lead in the fifth inning on a bases loaded walk against Justin Mize. After the batter, Nick Schoen came in and relieved Mize. Six-Run Sixth Powers Old Westbury Past Mount St. Vincent’s

Photo Credit: Vinny Messana Tommy Zeigen broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning with an RBI double to right field to give the Old Westbury Panthers a 4-3 lead over Mount St. Vincent’s. The Panthers added five more runs to put the game away and improve to 7-2 on the season.Tyler Kapela recorded the win with five innings, allowing three ER, four hits and three walks while striking out four. He was relieved by Vinny Bieniek, Nick Schoen and Justin Mize who combined for four shutout innings.The offense compiled 14 hits–Eddie Hernandez, Jonathan Pagan, Christian Faust, Michael Cardino and Zeigen all recorded two hits.Faust and Nick Yip both drove in two runs.The teams will play again in the second game of the twin bill.
