They took a step forward in 2022 and were near the top of the CHSAA standings all season with Chaminade, but ultimately they ran out of steam in the postseason. They currently have a plethora of talented seniors such as Sebastian Velasquez, Brian Zweigbaum, Nich...

Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) When Kellenberg had their run of back-to-back CHSAA Championship in 2016 and 2017 they did so in large part to their dominant pitching staff. While there were certainly contributors all over the roste...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: CJ Alfano

(This is the 12th installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry, Kenny Meliere, Jaiden Zoller, Max Donacea, Keegan McElligot, Lucien Saint Cyr and Jayden Gigante. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) The lifeblood of a successful Catholic League program is having talented players in the pipeline from the time they are in 9th grade. Being in the program for 4 years, as opposed to transferring for one year, getting great coaching, offseason training and plenty of playing time in JV are all factors that benefit players as they develop into upperclassmen. St. Anthony’s has b...

Miguel Sime Jr Commits to LSU

Miguel Sime Jr. (‘25 NY) holding 89-92 w/ heavy sink thru 3. Med depth to CB at 73-74 & landing it. St. Mary’s sophomore Miguel Sime Jr, a flame-throwing RHP announced his verbal commitment to Louisiana State University. Sime has been up to 94 MPH but typically sits 89-92 MPH. He is head & shoulders above the average velocity for his age group and clearly LSU is willing to bet on that. As far as I know, the last Long Island players to play at LSU were Keith Osik and Eric Strovink in the late 1980s. The duo of Sime and Todd Feurtado is bad news for the CHSAA, as they are no longer a team you can overlook. It will be anoth...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Jayden Gigante

(This is the eleventh installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry, Kenny Meliere, Jaiden Zoller, Max Donacea, Keegan McElligot and Lucien Saint Cyr. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) It is incredibly rare that an 8th grader would be a starter at the varsity level – and even more so on a playoff caliber team. Carey was 15-2-1 during the regular season last year and took an undefeated record halfway into the season. Although there was contributors up-and-down the roster, a big reason was their leadoff hitter extraordinaire Jayden Gigante. The pesky leadoff hitter perf...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Lucien Saint Cyr

(This is the tenth installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry, Kenny Meliere, Jaiden Zoller, Max Donacea and Keegan McElligot. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) As I mentioned in the last edition, it is rare for a freshman to be the starting SS on varsity in the CHSAA. The teams are too talented and the talent pool is typically plentiful enough where it is not even a consideration. In the case of St. John the Baptist and St. Dominic, that is not a concern entering 2023. Both teams will likely be starting a freshman. Keegan McElligot for SJB and Lucien Saint Cyr for St Do...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Keegan McElligott

(This is the ninth installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry, Kenny Meliere, Jaiden Zoller and Max Donacea Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) Keegan McElligot (St. John the Baptist 2026) pic.twitter.com/gMh5BIlvc1 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) December 20, 2022 Defense up the middle is a very important aspect to building a winning ballclub. In the case of the 2026 Titans Quattrini, they have one of the best in the class with SS Keegan McElligot. The silky smooth defender showed a penchant for making incredible plays. It doesn’t hurt that he was also outsta...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Max Donacea

(This is the eighth installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry, Kenny Meliere and Jaiden Zoller. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) Power-throwing lefties. That will never go out of style across amateur baseball. Every year there’s another that takes the next step and becomes a dominant force and becomes a Division-I pitcher. One name that I believe fits that mold is Northport sophomore Max Donacea. I first watched him at our Axcess World Series back in September at St. Dominic HS. He was brilliant in his outing against players that were 1 or 2 years old than him. H...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Jaiden Zoller

(This is the seventh installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner, Tyler Scarry. and Kenny Meliere Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here) Body Armor Titans 2026 had a deadly lineup this season and that all began with their leadoff hitter Jaiden Zoller. He put together some video game numbers that would make Rickey Henderson jealous. He batted .484 with a .590 OBP, 1.214 OPS, scored 51 runs and drew 23 walks against just 7 strikeouts. Just as importantly, he committed zero errors in center field. Strong defense up the middle and an OBP-machine at the top of the lineup is a great start to putt...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Kenny Meliere

(This is the sixth installment of our weekly “Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations” in which we highlight the best underclassmen from across Long Island. Previously, we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz, Luke Coats, Michael Gardner and Tyler Scarry. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here). Next Level Baseball has been one of the most consistent travel organizations in the region over the past decade. This season was no exception. A big reason for their success is the presence of the talented players in the CHSAA. Clearly the most talented league on Long Island, the Catholic League is home to several high-end Division-I and II players each season – many of them play their summer ball for the Next Level. One of those players is ChaminadeR...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Tyler Scarry

(This is the fifth installment of our weekly Up Next Series Powered by Eye Q Investigations in which we highlight the top underclassmen on Long Island. Previously, we have featured Miguel Sime Jr., Matt Cruz, Luke Coats and Michael Gardner. Make sure to check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here.) Division Ave HS has a rich tradition of baseball. They have won an astounding 37 league championships, 14 Nassau Championships, 9 Long Island Championships and 2 NYS Championships. They have done so with great coaching (beginning with the late Doug Robins to current coach Tom Tuttle), a deep talent pool in Levittown and a blue-collar demeanor when it comes to work ethic. They had the 2021 League MVP in Nick Roselli – currently a sophomore at SUNY Binghamton, the 2022 Diamond Award winn...

Up Next Powered by Eye Q Investigations: Michael Gardner

(This is the fourth installment of the popular ‘Up Next’ Series in which we highlight the top underclassmen on Long Island. Previously we featured Miguel Sime Jr, Matt Cruz. and Luke Coats. Make sure you check out Eye Q Investigations by clicking here.) At this point it is accurate to describe Chaminade as a baseball factory. Coming off their third straight CHSAA Championship – and winning the first NYS CHSAA Championship in history – they are one of the premiere programs in the northeast. While they did graduate 15 seniors, the well never runs dry on talent. One of the players to keep an eye on is sophomore middle infielder Michael Gardner. He just finished up an amazing 2022 season in which he accomplished a lot and compiled some impressive numbers. Over 40 games in Perfect G...
