St. Joseph’s stuns Old Westbury to remain undefeated in Skyline Conference play

By Jesse Borek PATCHOGUE, NY — Staying undefeated in Skyline Conference play thus far this season, the St. Joseph’s Golden Eagles stunned the Old Westbury Panthers to sweep the doubleheader on the back of a four-run, ninth-inning comeback in the opener. After the shock of scoring four runs in their final at-bat in the nine-inning opener, the Golden Eagles would finish off the Panthers 4-1 in the backend of the cap, moving to 5-0 in Conference play. They won their third straight game there–and fourth overall–with an 11-1 victory over John Jay.They got on the board early and often. Christian Faust drove a two-run double to RF to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Before the inning was over, they added four more runs–highlighted by Nick Yip‘s third home run of the young season. He tied Anthony Orsano for the program record with 11 career home runs. That was all Caleb Olsen would need. He threw five dominant innings, allowing only one run on one hit, walking two while striking out three. He needed only 64 pitches.
