The deal comes with the July 31 trade deadline looming and many of the top World Series contending teams looking to acquire front-of-the-rotation pitchers. The Mets–who have an 11.2 percent chance of making the postseason–are not one of those contenders. Stroman arrived and was greeted with a warm welcome from the crowd. He immediately spoke about his pitching philosophies. In the above video he demonstrates with his younger brother, Jayden, on the difference between missing your intended location by a fraction of an inch “when you’re facing big league hitters like Jose Altuve and Aaron Judge.” He also took the time to take pictures and sign autographs for the athletes before everyone split into groups and he worked on various drills.
