He was the first Longwood player to get drafted since Bryan Hansen in 2001. Ventimiglia, a 6’4 RHP, dominated League I as a sophomore in 2019 (0.28 ERA) and committed to Stony Brook following the season. His star has risen since and was considered one the top pitchers on Long Island entering 2020. After the cancellation of the season, he was able to put together a huge summer pitching for LI Titans-Quattrini – part of a vaunted staff with JT Raab and Jacob Steinmetz. The highlight of his season was...

The teams traded wins in the first two games before Connetquot captured the decisive Game 3 by the score of 2-0 to move to the Finals while Longwood had their season end with a record of 18-8. Who Is JT Raab?

But 6’5 RHP J.T. Raab (MacArthur 2021) has certainly turned heads with his performance this summer and fall for the Long Island Titans-Quattrini. The No. 1 ranked 2021 team in the region had an outstanding summer, and finished off with a bang at the Northeast Elite Tournament. For the year, Raab posted an unblemished record of 9-0 with a 0.49 ERA. As if that’s not impressive enough, his peripheral numbers were even more astounding. He struck out 12.7 batters per 9, allowed 2.6 hits pe...

Who Are The Top Pitchers in the 2021 Class?

It feels like we should still be getting ready for the 2020 season rather than tying a ribbon on it. It feels like yesterday I was at Stony Brook covering their game against Iona. The next week was supposed to kick off the high school baseball season. As we know, that never happened. The next several months we were forced to watch old highlights and hope for better days. July 5 finally featured real live baseball games and since that time, it’s been a sprint to the finish line of the season. Last night was the Northeast Elite 18U tournament which is an annual tournament at Baseball Heaven hosted by Phillies Director of International Scouting, Sal Agostinelli, which features the top teams from the region and it’s always a treat. This tournament began in 2007 when I was just a ju...

Ventimiglia’s Arm, Roselli’s Bat Lead Titans-Quattrini to a Thrilling Victory

One of the best games you’ll see pic.twitter.com/UUivIBcKTd — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 19, 2020 Ho-ly smokes. What a game!  The Long Island Titans-Quattrini outlasted Junior Ducks-Caputo in a classic victory, 1-0, in 9 innings to capture the 18U Northeast Elite tournament at Baseball Heaven. The game featured two brilliant arms, RHP Tommy Ventimiglia  (Longwood 2021) and Brendan Williams (West Hempstead 2021) at their absolute best and not giving an inch. The game had the feel of a fall classic with each team’s ace leaving everything on the mound and it was truly inspiring to watch. Ventimiglia wound up striking out a career-high 17 batters over 9 innings, while Williams ...

Who Were The Favorites For The Paul Gibson Award?

Sports fans and media love playing the what if game. Growing up a die-hard baseball fan, I always wondered what if Jeffrey Maier doesn’t reach over the outfield fence and catapult the Yankees dynasty? What if Barry Bonds doesn’t feel slighted by the media coverage Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa received in 1998 and decides it’s not worth it to take steroids? And what happens if Duaner Sanchez decides not to take a cab at 2 am causing him to miss the rest of the season and the Mets make the World Series in 2006? This year we are playing a different type of what if game What if the season started on time and continued unimpeded through May? Let’s start with the Paul Gibson Award, which is given to the top pitcher in Suffolk County. Last year it was won by Joe Savino of C...

Tommy Ventimiglia Commits to Stony Brook

Final: Longwood 2, Smithtown East 0 WP: Danny Gargano S: Tommy Ventimiglia James Myler game-winning HR pic.twitter.com/2noaf3lu31 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 21, 2019 If you followed the 2019 high school season closely then you are familiar with the rise of Longwood RHP Tommy Ventimiglia. Ventimiglia, which is a town in Northern Italy, is also an ace pitcher that is now off the board for college coaches after announcing his commitment to Stony Brook University last night. Head Coach Matt Senk knows pitchers, and he was able to watch him up close on Wednesday in a dominant outing. During the high school season, ‘Venti’ started out as an unknown sophomore getting called up to varsity and wound up as one of the most effective pitchers in the Class AA playoffs. Time ...

Tommy Ventimiglia Gets The Shutout Win For The LI Titans & Advance To The Championship

by Lou Accumanno Tom Ventimiglia was perfect at the mound today with 13 strikeouts helping the LI Titans get the 9-0 victory over the Seminoles and advancing to the championship this Saturday. He is your Axcess Baseball Player of the game. pic.twitter.com/6KJr3U7G9D — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 8, 2019 Nothing was stopping LI Titans starting pitcher Tommy Ventimiglia on the mound today as he helped his team get the 9-0 victory in the semifinals over the B1000 Seminoles.  Ventimiglia didn’t have his best stuff on the mound early as his first three batters reached base. But, with bases loaded Ventimiglia–with the help of the infield–found the hot hand and got himself out of that jam. Not only was the defense on point but so was the offense. Ryan Ferremi singled t...

Who Were the Top Performers at Today’s BCP Long Island Showcase?

Each year, Blue Chip Prospects hosts a bevy of showcases on Long Island which features some of the top uncommitted players across this great region. They play in front of dozens of college coaches, hoping to garner interest from them and continue their baseball careers after high school. Today, 63 players showed up at Mitchel Field with 20 colleges represented. Some of these schools were St. John’s, Fordham, University at Albany, Monmouth, LIU, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Sacred Heart, Farleigh-Dickinson, Manhattan, Iona, NJIT, Farfield, Adelphi, NYIT, Molloy, Pace, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn and Stevenson. From my perspective, these events are great because I have the opportunity to see such a high volume of elite players all in one location. Sometimes there’s h...

Matt Encizo’s 3-R Home Run, Tommy Ventimiglia’s Arm Sends Longwood Into AA Semifinals

The talented youngster answered the bell by throwing six strong innings, striking out six and holding the Bulls to one run. Longwood came away with a 5-1 victory. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the third inning, the first two Lions’ batters were retired. The next two batters drew walks to bring up the middle of the order. SS Matt Encizo turned on an inside fastball and deposited it over the fence in right field for a 3-run ...
