While 2024 was not a great season for Sachem East, they did have to be thrilled with the progress of sophomore RJP Jake King. The big righty had a very solid season for the Arrows, compiling a 3.20 ERA over 6 starts with 27 strikeouts. He formed a formidable rotation along with Jamie Apicella and Austin Barrett. Following the season, King took his game to the next level for the Body Armor Titans. He notched a 6-1record while firing 37 innings with a sparkling 1.10 ERA. He struck out 52 batters while yielding just 22 hits (.170 opponent AVG). His high school coach, Kevin Schnupp had the following to say: “Jake has become a team leader this year in our fall workouts. He’s looking to build off a successful sophomore campaign in a tough league. He was the type of pitcher with a bu...

It’s been a year of accomplishments for St. John the Baptist grad Logan O’Hoppe. First, he led the Cougars to the CHSAA Championship, then he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 23rd round of the MLB Draft and finally he was named 1st Team All-American Gold Glove Award winner by Rawlings. The latter of which was awarded to the top prep catcher in the country. Only three base runners attempted steals on him this season. He can add one more award to his mantle, as he was voted the 2018 Axcess Baseball Man of the Year by his peers, garnering 62 percent of the votes, edging out Anthony D’Onofrio and Matt Hogan. Since getting drafted, he has further raised his stock. He posted a slash line of .367/..411/.532, proving he is not simply a defensive-minded catcher. He...

It seemed inevitable that rain would take a day of baseball away from the 17u LI Titans-Gutes and LI Baseball. Both teams were determined, however, to get one by Mother Nature and play their Boys of Summer matchup. Despite the weather, the Titans and LI Baseball put together a picturesque 7-inning game that embodied the beauty of the sport. A performance highlighted by powerful pitching outings. Jason Labrador followed up with a single, putting Elite in a position to strike early. The following batter, Mike Sullivan, reached on a fielder’s ...
