Last year, Port Washington’s playoff hopes came down to a tie breaker game against Oceanside, in which they lost and missed out on the postseason. The Garden City Trojans were led to victory with big performances by third baseman Braden Soutar, shortstop Jack Fanning, and an impressive and resilient outing from starting pitcher Josh Cohen. Oyster Bay finished the regular season in 2021 with a 5-11 record in a combined league composed of A and B schools. Coach Shiereck said 6 of their losses were against the A schools who they do not usually go up against, though they were losses, he said they were in every game and put up a good fight against the competition. Harborfields Enters 2022 Coming Off County Championship Appearance
By Thomas Cregan Harborfields head coach Casey Sturm is looking to pickup right where they left off in 2021 and make another run at the County Championship in 2022. They embarked on a fantastic run in 2021 posting a 13-8 regular season record propelling them into the postseason. They would ride the wave until a close game in which they were ultimately defeated by East Islip in the County Championship. Coach Casey Sturm was incredibly proud of his group’s performance despite the loss. Centereach Hopeful to Take Step Next and Reach Postseason

In his first two years with the program coach Cammarata and his Centereach team barely missed the playoffs by just one game in both years. However, in 2021 the team took a step back and won four games, but Cammarata is not discouraged and is looking to build off the experience his players have gained and continue to make strides toward success in 2022. Mineola finished the 2021 season with a league record of 7-9 making the playoffs in a tough conference. They were defeated in the first round by Wantagh, but coach Bohringer is optimistic his team will be back in the hunt for the playoffs this year. Westhampton Beach Looks to Return to Playoffs Following 1-0 Heartbreaker
By Thomas Cregan Despite the loss of many key players from 2021 Westhampton Beach coach Asa Grunenwald is looking for another strong season out of his group in 2022. Westhampton posted a 9-9 regular season record in 2021 which propelled them to the playoffs. They would lose to Hills West 1-0 which coach Grunenwald called a heartbreaking way to end the season. However, he said that overall, it was a good year in which his team kept themselves in many close games and even their losses were close and always thrilling. In his first year of being head coach of Bellport following the passing of legendary longtime coach Bill Batewell the team only missed the playoffs by 1 game. Though many could see this as disappointing, Murphy says the experience the young players on his team gained will benefit them going forward.
