Axcess player of the game Liam Leonard discusses how he felt his stuff was working on the mound today. Leonard entered the game in the top of the 3rd trailing 3-2 and pitched 4 scoreless innings with 5 k’s and only 2 hits allowed, helping lead his team to their 8-3 victory. pic.twitter.com/09vbwA2cd8 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 8, 2018 Baseball like most other sports is a game of momentum. One little thing can change the outcome of a game dramatically. In this case, though, instead of one little thing, the more proper thing to say would be one big inning. In a 15u Boys of Summer clash between Beast White and the B1000 Seminoles, Beast White jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the 1st inning. Josh DeCicco drove in Kelly Burke with an RBI single to get Beast off to a ...
When James Labartino‘s 12U team took the field in the Perfect Game qualifier in Staten Island this summer during the month of June, he already knew he had a good team. That day, however, further solidified that claim. “We were facing a couple of ranked team,” said the 28-year old St. John the Baptist grad. “One of the games was about to start and everyone was saying ‘oh they have their two best guys throwing, this is going to be a tough game,’ well we went out and scored 12 runs in the first inning,” he laughed while he reminisced on that game. “I think we hit three or four home runs in the first inning including a grand slam and they just didn’t know what hit them,” he added. The 12U Beast United, a team based primarily out of Ma...
Building the correct muscle memory from a young age is very important for catchers. It can be close to impossible to reverse engineer years of bad habits. That is why it is crucial, in the opinion of former Milwaukee Brewers catcher Charles Galiano, that players are taught the proper technique as early as possible. The clinic will be hosted at BEAST Facility (6133 Jericho Turnpike, Commack) for grades 3-8 and All Pro Sports Academy (990 Station Road, Bellport) for grades 9-12. The mission of this clinic to provide players with professional-caliber instruction in small groups with an emphasis on proper technique. “I want music b...

The first thing you notice is the compact, clean mechanics from the classic high 3/4 arm slot. He is not the tallest...
In this week’s podcast, host Vinny Messana speaks with former Commack and Fordham star catcher, Charles Galiano. Twice drafted (2012, ’15), the Commack native had a very respectable career and played two minor league seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers before a shoulder injury derailed his career prematurely. Now he is preparing for life after baseball and discusses his plans to stay involved in the Long Island baseball community.
