Which Prospect Has Risen Their Stock the Most So Far?

We can talk until we are blue in the face in the offseason about what to expect in the upcoming season based on the stats compiled from the previous year. At the end of the day, it comes down to performance on the field and Rob Andreoli (LIU Post 2018) To say he’s risen his performance wouldn’t be accurate, but following his Axcess Baseball MVP season, he’s certainly proven that it wasn’t a fluke of a season, which raises his draft stock. He’s leading the team in hitting once again at .352 and he has drawn more walks (11) than strikeouts (9) again. An OBP of .421 is typical for him, and he’s also added 10 stolen bases to go along with his usual solid defense in CF. Also, he’s proven that whatever injury hampered him at the end of last season is beh...

Insider Notes: March 24

by Nick Vecchione Below are my scouting observations from yesterday’s game between Stony Brook and Quinnipiac Nick Grande Standing at 5’11 Grande sports a straight up stance with quiet hands sitting about shoulder height. He is the epitome of a complete situational hitter, which is why the 2-hole compliments him quite well. He is talented enough to have a gameplan entering each at bat, keeping the pitcher off balance as to what he’s trying to accomplish during each plate appearance. At times he looks to clearly be trying to put the ball on the ground to utilize his speed to reach base. Furthermore, he can take advantage of the defense playing back by featuring his outstanding bunting skills. Additionally, given all factors within a game, he can showcase an abnormally large upper cut ...

Binghamton Comes to Town for Big Three-Game Set With Stony Brook

by Julian Guevara The Binghamton Bearcats have not had their season start out how they originally envisioned it. BU (3-9) struggled to produce offense in non-conference play, being that they were outscored, 66-41, in those 12 games. “I think what has happened over the years is we have developed a great rivalry,” said Binghamton baseball head coach Tim Sinicki. “Being that we are both SUNY schools, have had success and have a tremendous amount of respect for each other, so typically it’s a very good series and one that we always look forward to.” They are looking to turn things around this weekend, as they will be opening up conference play at Stony Brook. The Seawolves (7-7) were off to a hot start, but went on to get swept at home against Wagner. Before the Wagner series they only had one...

Dylan Resk’s Clutch Hit Delivers Stony Brook Victory in Home Opener

The big hit came on a two-run double by Dylan Resk in the sixth inning to score Brandon Alamo and Nick Grande which erased a 3-2 deficit. “For whatever reason we seemed to be out of our approach early in the game,” said Coach Matt Senk. “Obviously we preach being aggressive but we were being over-aggressive. Dylan had a really at bat there and came up with a big swing for us to take the lead,” he added. They still needed to get some big outs from their relievers, which is exactly what happened. Freshman Brian Morrisey (Commack) came on in relief and fired 1.2 shutout innings, before giving way to the closer, Aaron Pinto, who made a great 3-2 pitch to strike out Matt Padre on a 93 MPH heater to end the threat. Pinto came back out for the ninth and fired a 1-2-3 ninth...

February 17 Recap

Saturday was the second day of the season for many teams in our coverage area, and was a pretty busy day. Five different teams played in six games and went 4-2 overall. Division-I: St. John’s: The Red Storm improved to 2-0 with a 1-0 road victory over Campbell University that took 10 innings. Kevin Magee and Joe Kelly dominated for St. John’s in this pitcher’s duel. The pitching duo combining to allow just three hits over 10 innings pitched with an astounding 18 total strikeouts and no walks. The few hits that Campbell mustered were all singles that came in different innings as their hitters were completely stifled. In a game with very little offense, it took a sac fly on a deep foul out for senior outfielder Jamie Galazin to score the games only run. The Storm’s pitching has dominated in ...
