Although they did not reach their ultimate goal, the Bulldogs did win a playoff game. And are poised to make another deep run in the 2024 season. The Bulldogs lost their first playoff game in 2023 at the hands of West Islip, before beating Northport in their second game. Following their win to keep their hopes aliv...

North Babylon Primed for Postseason Return

by Nick Cipolla North Babylon was one of the biggest surprises in Section XI in 2022. The Bulldogs had a team with only 25 innings of combined varsity experience from their pitching staff before the season began, but that didn’t stop them from going 11-7 and making the playoffs. They even flirted with the league title, something that many felt was impossible for the Bulldogs in 2022. North Babylon’s head coach Steve Corrado is very happy with the growth of his team over the last two seasons. “In 2021 we graduated most of our pitching and infield”, said coach Corrado, “We went into last year with only 25 innings pitched of experience. In contrast we have 97 innings of pitching experience coming back for 2023. We never felt out of a game last year and the team showed great resilience from th...

North Babylon Returning 5 Starters From Playoff Season

By Michael Malaszczyk While every baseball team on Long Island was affected by the coronavirus pandemic with the full shutdown in 2020 and case surges in 2021, North Babylon was hit particularly hard. A number of North Babylon’s starting players began the season while in quarantine, and one of North Babylon’s coaches was put in a ten day quarantine in the middle of the season. Nevertheless, North Babylon bounced back to have a strong season that saw them finish 9-9 overall and clinch a playoff spot, defying these early hiccups. “After a 0-3 start, the team battled to clinch a playoff berth on the final day of the season with a 1-0 win over Walt Whitman,” said Corrado. “Eventually we lost to Bay Shore in the first round of the playoffs.” Corrado is proud of his team for overcoming the odds ...

North Babylon Looks To Restore Momentum From 2019

by Chris Sacchi Steve Corrado and his North Babylon High School Baseball team can be seen as a reflection of the current state of affairs when it comes to overcoming Covid-19. At first, Corrado has to reflect on what has been lost: “The first thing I would say is that last year, my heart was broken for my seniors, that they didn’t get an opportunity to come back out and prove that we were going to be a good team.” Just like the rest of the world, Corrado is hoping we can reclaim what was had before. North Babylon 2020 Season Preview

by Zevan Shuster Coming off an extremely successful season last year, North Babylon baseball coach Steve Corrado knows his team will have to reinvent itself if they are to be successful on this upcoming campaign.  “We lost a lost of experience last year. We had a good team last year. We were 17-5, and we had a school record 11-game winning streak at one point. What came with that is we had three senior pitchers at the top of the rotation who threw 134 out of 161 innings,” Corrado said. “We think we have some talented kids, but we have kids that are going to have to prove themselves on the varsity level this year, especially on the mound, which is not always easy to do at this level.” While their success was obvious last year, Corrado knows it won’t come as easy this time around. However, h...

North Babylon Looks Primed For a Huge 2019

With a solid Head Coach at the helm, you can bounce back quickly from down seasons. After winning eight games in 2017, the North Babylon Bulldogs improved to twelve last year including an incredible comeback victory in the postseason over Lindenhurst. This year, they’re hungry for more. North Babylon scores two in the bottom of the seventh to stave off elimination and defeat Lindenhurst 8-7 pic.twitter.com/yNkp7qi9kE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 17, 2018 It’s no surprise the Bulldogs expect big things this year. They’re a very experienced team led by Head Coach Steve Corrado. They did graduate all-league catcher Zachary Kolano and their All-League outfielder and leadoff hitter Paul Tchinnis. What they return to the team however, makes them more than dangerous. Two players in ...
