Paul Parsolano Named St. Anthony’s Head Coach

In a move that is likely to reverberate throughout Long Island baseball, Paul Parsolano will be the new Head Coach of St. Anthony’s, where he was previously an assistant from 1995-2007. In fact, the last time St. Anthony’s won the CHSAA title was in 2000, when he was on staff. He is also credited with the rapid ascension of Franklin Parra from obscurity to being drafted by the New York Mets in the 11th round this past June. Parsolano had been the pitching coach of St. Joseph’s College since 2014, where he helped break their drought of winning the Skyline Conference championship in 2016. They also won it in 2018, in large part to his pitching staff. Here are some facts since he took over. 2 Conference Championships (2016, 2018) 2 Regular Season Championships (2015, 2017) 6...

Who Is Jordan Rose?

The St. Anthony’s Friars put together one of their most talented teams on paper in 2017. Their lineup consisted of a few players that had already gone on to accept scholarship offers such as Cameron Tomaiko, Noah Fortuna and Kyle LaGrutta. They also had a few other players such as Jared Restmeyer, Steven Rizzo and Jordan Rose who are certain to accept scholarships as well. While Restmeyer and Rizzo enjoyed breakout seasons, Rose suffered a painful injury against St. John the Baptist which cut his season short and sidelined him for the summer season as well. He is back to 100 percent, however, and will take part in our inaugural Home Run Derby on September 9 at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). He is a tremendously gifted outfielder with premium power. He spoke with Vinny Messa...

LI Nationals, Behind Strong Outing From Patrick Fullerton, Defeat Suffolk County Seawolves.

Coverage, photo and recap written by Julian Guevara. The LI Nationals were the home team in a Town of Brookhaven Summer Varsity regular season matchup with the Suffolk County Seawolves. The Nationals called upon St. Anthony’s junior RHP Patrick Fullerton to start this one. The tall right-hander pitched an impressive four frames, giving him the win in a game that was ended due to a run-rule. Fullerton demonstrated his impressive level of control only walking one batter in the first; he only faced four batters that inning. He would finish the game with 6 K’s and just one walk in a necessary win for the Nationals. They came in to this matchup just about even with the Seawolves at 1-3 (Seawolves have two ties) and Fullerton stepped up at the plate as well driving in the first two runs for the ...

Jack Delaney’s Clutch Hit, Cappas’ Lights-Out Performance Clinches No. 1 Seed for Kellenberg

Final: Kellenberg 3, St. Anthony’s 0 WP: Chris Cappas (5-1) Kellenberg clinches No. 1 seed and bye in the postseason next week pic.twitter.com/Ju8iKeHfuv — aXcess Baseball (@axcessbaseball) May 12, 2017 With first place on the line, Kellenberg put the ball in the hands of the reigning CHSAA Pitcher of the Year, Chris Cappas, and let him do what he does. The senior, who has routinely silenced the opposition’s bats this season, did that today as well. He fired 6.2 shutout innings, earning his fifth win of the season, and delivered Kellenberg their second consecutive CHSAA regular season title. He was supported by captain Jack Delaney, who ripped a two-run single in the fifth inning to left-center field, which was the difference in this game. Cappas extended his scoreless str...

St. Anthony’s Ready to Take the Next Step

Head Coach John Phelan told his team before the season last year, “We’ve finally arrived.” They backed up the bravado by winning 14 games and coming within a run of forcing a game three against Kellenberg. “We finished the season knowing with could compete against anyone,” said Phelan. “We caught up to these other teams.” Additionally, he feels the team matured by facing high-end pitcher such as Chris Cappas and Noah Lorenzo. That team did graduate the CHSAA MVP in Matt Martino, who won six games on the hill and also smacked three home runs. They also graduated Connor Levchuk, who hit .340 last year. Both of them are currently playing ball at Vassar College. “Those are two big bats we lost, but fortunately Cameron Tomaiko came into his own.&#...
