by Jacob Infald There is absolutely zero quit in the squad from Smithtown as this Saturday morning doubleheader showed why the Smithtown Bulls are at the top of the league in the East Coast 10U Summer Showdown National division. After overcoming a 9-0 deficit earlier in the season against the Sharks Baseball Academy, the Bulls demonstrated some more resilience today, including overcoming a 10-5 deficit in the last inning to sweep the doubleheader against a scrappy Farmingdale Greendogs team, winning two tightly contested games by scores of 5-4 and 11-10 respectfully to improve to 14-0 on the season. We spoke with today’s player of the game Grayson Dick and Coach Hyne. Grayson was the winning pitcher, pitching the last two innings allowing no runs. He also scored the game winning run. The p...
by Jacob Infald On the afternoon of June 22nd, the Smithtown Bulls took on the Sharks Baseball Academy in a highly-anticipated doubleheader in the East Coast 10u Summer Showdown National division. In two games, that seemingly were the polar opposites of one another, the Bulls won them both, 18-11 and 3-2 as they extend their winning streak to six wins to start the season, and the Sharks suffer their first two defeats of the summer. However, the weather held up and another type of Storm was able to wreak havoc on the East Islip High School Baseball Field this evening. The LI Storm rode a big 5th inning where they scored six runs, which proved to be too much for the Smithtown Bulls. The Storm drew first blood in the bottom of the 1st inning. Steven Kolm got it started with a single to center. The next batter Alexander Baker smacked a ball into the gap in left center field to give t...
Not often will you find a cleaner game of baseball at the 10u level than in today’s finals of the ‘Beat the Heat’ tournament at Plainedge Park between the LI Titans-Anderson and the Smithtown Bulls. The game took a swift 1 hour, 34 minutes and the Titans held off a late Bulls rally to triumph by the score of 7-5. Here’s how it went down. The pitching match up of Joey Lionetti for the Titans and Ronan Keely for the Bulls was a good one but each made a mistake in the first inning. Angelo Ciminiello, younger brother of Seton Hall-commit Mike Ciminiello, crushed a one-out home run to left field in the top of the first to get the Bulls on the board. The Titans wasted no time in responding with a leadoff HR by Joey Irrizary to tie the game up 1-1. In the top of the second...
