Q & A With Vin Malzahn – Assistant Coach of the Irish National Team

Vinnie Malzahn is the assistant coach of the Irish National Team – which one Gold Medal in Zurich in 2017 during the European Championship. He is also the GM of the Hardball Training Center in Elmsford, NY. Prior to that, he had a standout career at St. Thomas Aquinas, where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2016. Two Long Islanders Selected To 18U Irish National Team

Sean Delahunty (Lindenhurst) and Dillon Cleary (Sag Harbor) have been selected to represent Ireland in the 2020 European Championship Tournament. The event will take place in Italy from July 13-19 and it will serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2021 World Cup. The Irish National Team will be managed by Jay Murphy and he will be assisted by Vinnie Malzahn, Eric Helmrich, Gary O’Connor and Tommy Murphy. Delahunty had the following to say about being selected, “I first heard about the Irish National Team in September and from then on I trained all the time and threw and hit at least twice a week preparing for the tryout. One of the most exciting finishes in the Axcess Baseball era came on April of 2018 at Cantiague Park. In the seventh inning, Chaminade was attempting to make a comeback against Holy Trinity. On a single to right field, Dylan Reilly fired a strong throw and catcher Sean Delahunty made an exceptional play to make the tag to end the game.
