Game one began with a couple of southpaws getting starts on the mound for both sides. Max Hart, the big 6-foot 8-inch Williams College lefty got the start for the Whalers and the Ospreys sent Matt Guido, of Lycoming College to the bump. ...

Westhampton had previously captured the championship four times (most recently in 2019), while Sag Harbor hadn’t came out on top since 2008. A perfectly executed bunt by Wyatt Benson combined with an error by the pitcher allowed the go-ahead run to score and send the hometown team into a frenzy. Despite falling behind 3-0 after one half inning of play and 6-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Whalers were able to come storming back and win, 8-7, on a walk-off hit by CJ Dean. It was Dean’s third hit of the day out of the leadoff spot and delivered a crucial Game 1 victory for the No. 2 seed Whalers (18-15-3).
