Sachem North Head Coach Tom Gambino has been at the helm since 2005 and knows the league inside-and-out and he recognizes this as well. “Connetquot and Commack are the heavy favorites,” said Gambino. “Connetquot is bringing back almost everyone from last year. Every team in the league is good,” he added. Four teams were represented in the postseason, including these Sachem North Arrows, who finished the regular season with a record of 11-9, before dropping both playoff games to Commack and Longwood. To add to the challenge, the team graduated their o...
The Steel Select Falcons defeated the Long Island Jr. Ducks to win the 16u All-American Invitational behind a strong pitching performance from right hander, PJ Daniels. It seemed as if Daniels may be in for a rough start, after allowing a lead off double to the opposing pitcher, Jordan Goldstein. A sacrifice fly moved him over to third base. With one out, Daniels then proceeded to walk the following batter. He then escaped trouble by inducing an around the horn double play. The Falcons gave their pitcher some run support early on. After a quick first out, the next two batters walked. Cleanup hitter, Nicholas Capazzola then reached base on a fielder’s choice, which brought in Trevor Zanderzuk for the first run of the game. In the following inning, Daniels again looked to be in trouble, issu...
Rausch and Longwood HC Ryan McSherry spoke to Axcess Baseball after the game following the Lions’ dominant win, while the rest of the team enjoyed the victory in the background. pic.twitter.com/fBYRABZwHA — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 17, 2018 Longwood (16-5) and Sachem North (11-11) started an elimination game Tuesday afternoon in the Suffolk AA playoffs. However, after four and a half innings of play, a rainstorm forced the remainder of the game to be played Thursday. In the end, Longwood’s offensive dominance on Tuesday was enough to keep the team alive with a 14-4 win over the Arrows. Sachem North got to Lions’ starter Jared Vanderhoof early. Three of the first four batters got on base to start the top of the first, then Frank Arena worked a walk to give Sachem a 1-0 lead....
Our @DigmiNation Player of the Game is Jack Gonzalez who fired a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts in Sachem North’s 5-0 victory. They need two more wins to qualify for the postseason pic.twitter.com/IwQlrkiC1N Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 1, 2018 When you’re in need of a big start against a league rival on the road with the playoffs in sight, you turn to your ace. St. Thomas Aquinas-commit Jack Gonzalez was that guy today for the Sachem North Arrows, who entered the game needing three wins to qualify for a postseason berth. The southpaw went out, struck out 7 over the first four innings, and wound up firing a six-hit shutout, with all six hits coming as singles. He worked quick, he threw strikes and needed very little offense on this day for his fi...

Final: Kings Park 5, Sachem North 2 WP: Joe Sommer Branden Falco go-ahead two-run single KP will face Commack tomorrow pic.twitter.com/gegR8kuOLR aXcess Baseball (@axcessbaseball) May 15, 2017 When he was a freshman watching the Kings Park varsity team play, Branden Falco thought to himself “this is gonna be us someday.” As it turns out, it was three years later that he would be playing in front of a packed house with his team trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning against Sachem North in an elimination game. It was the same team that had eliminated them the previous year, with the same pitcher (Chris Lollo) who fired a no-hitter as Falco watched from the sideline due to injury. The LIU Post-commit ripped a two-run single up the middle to put the Kingsmen up 3-2,...
