The beauty of college athletics is that you get four years to prove yourself. Sometimes it’s a blessing, sometimes it’s a curse and that’s entirely up to the athlete based on his worth ethic. There were a number of players who didn’t perform the way they were hoping to last year–but have committed themselves to proving that was an anomaly. Farmingdale State Creeps Back Into the Playoff Picture

  Photo Credit: Farmingdale State Athletics After winning three of four this weekend, Farmingdale State is back in the mix in the Skyline Conference playoff picture. We covered the DH on Saturday in which they split with Mount St. Vincent’s. After losing the first game 19-8, they responded by winning the next three games this weekend.  On Sunday afternoon, they shutout Purchase 10-0 in the first game. They smacked 20 hits and held them to two. The game was over in the first inning after the Rams took a 6-0 lead. Incredibly, Purchase’s starting pitcher threw a complete game while allowing 20 hits. Farmingdale Sweeps Keystone

Photo Credit: Farmingdale State Athletics The Farmingdale Rams got back on track by sweeping a double header from Keystone College by the scores of 5-4 and 5-1 to improve 4-8. In Game One, the Rams got on the board first when Brian Brenton reached on an error. They added three in the second inning on a double steal which scored Christopher Reilly, Ryan Jordan‘s RBI single and an error which scored Jordan.Keystone responded with two in their half of the second inning on an RBI single by Julian Lanfranco, The Rams got one back in the third when PJ Harrington singled home Brenton. Keystone got that run back in their half on an RBI single of their own. They inched closer in the fourth on an RBI ground out by Lanfranco.
