Final: St. Joseph’s 11, Lehman 1 Anthony Raucci discusses the victory and his 3 RBI day pic.twitter.com/0xkNKAjZdm — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 12, 2019 St. Joseph’s was the last of the Long Island colleges to kick off their 2019 season, but it was worth the wait. They begin their season with an 11-1 victory over Lehman. They compiled 13 hits and benefited from shoddy defense, as Lehman committed six defensive miscues. Ryan Foran got the start. The reigning Paul Gibson Award winner was sharp in his collegiate debut, throwing two shutout innings, allowing just one hit. Their ace, Anthony Papa, also pitched two innings, touching 89 MPH on a few occasions. Other pitchers that threw an inning were Nick Mannarino, Kevin Yohe, Tim Woodford, Anthony Caminiti and Justin...

Eastport-South Manor Looks to Repeat 2018 Success with Young Roster

The Eastport-South Manor High School baseball team finished a successful 2018 season with a 20-7 record, winning the League 5 championship with a 15-5 league record but losing in the County Championship to West Islip. “Last year was a great year,” Eastport-South Manor head coach Jim McGowin said. “Lots of great guys.” The team lost eight seniors after last year, though, which brings up lots of questions about this year’s roster. “The big question mark for us is going to be our pitching,” McGowin said. “We have some big shoes to fill.” “[We had] arguably the best pitching staff in Suffolk Country,” he said. We are about to get underway here for Game 2 of the Suffolk Class AA Finals with Ryan Foran on the hill. Fordham-commit Jake Guercio steps in first pic.twitter.com/Bmb6Ylyhy4 — Axcess Ba...

Freshman That Could Have An Immediate Impact

2019 could have certainly gotten off to a better start for some people. Such as me. I immediately got pneumonia after I got back from the Power Showcase in Miami, which has left me relegated to laying on the couch. Fortunately, that does not preclude me from blogging so the show goes on. This is one of my favorite pieces to write each year, because of the difficulty. You are dealing with 18 and 19 year olds and often times high school success does not translate well to college. I will give it my best guess based on what I saw in the fall during our Fall Ball Series Presented by The Greene Turtle and also the recommendations of people smarter than me. Here it goes…   Ben Fero, RHP, Stony Brook Freshman Ben Fero flashing some heat pic.twitter.com/FUIl6GkpMK — Axcess Baseball LI (@...

They moved one step closer to being able to play another game of Kan Jam and by playing in another Long Island Championship with their thrilling 3-1 victory over an exciting and dangerous Eastport-South Manor team. Undefeated Ryan Foran had a no-hitter through four innings, but ran into...

Eastport-South Manor is headed to the Suffolk Class AA Finals with a 3-2 victory ! pic.twitter.com/qfosu0J54T — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 25, 2018 Six years ago it was on this same field that the Eastport-South Manor Sharks had a chance to win a county championship against Connetquot. They had better fortunes this time around as they are now one step closer to accomplishing that feat. They held off Connetquot’s late rally to win 3-2 and they have a date with West Islip on Sunday. Starting pitcher Alex Doskoez was efficient and used his defense all game, striking out five batters in a complete game victory. He proved his mettle on a number of occasions, stranding runners in scoring position in the first, fifth and sixth innings and seventh innings; exemplifying the clas...
