Roslyn finished 8-8-1 in their league schedule in 2023. However, with a balanced lineup consisting of seniors and improving underclassmen, head coach Dan Freeman is optimistic for the team in the new year.  Mineola 8 Roslyn 3 WP: Andrew Basel Andrew Basel 2-2 HR 4RBI Jack Ryan 3-3 RBI 5 SB Mike Duda 2-3 2 RBI pic.twit...

Between their ace, Justin Peralta, being dominant on the bump and Sean Britt’s explosive bat leading the Cyclones’ offense, South Side was in control through all seven innings.  Queen College-commit Justin Peralta had great control of all his pitches on the mound today. His fastball was overpowering and his breaking balls were out pitches when he needed them. Peralta tossed five innings for South Side, striking out six batters and allowing three runs. Peralta was not perfect today, but he w...

Roslyn Enters 2022 As Reigning Conference Champs for First Time in Almost 30 Years

By Michael Malaszczyk Coach Daniel Freeman of Roslyn is looking ahead to the 2022 baseball season with confidence. Roslyn had a great season in 2021. They finished with a 14-2 overall record, were the champions of their conference, and made it into the playoffs. In the playoffs, they lost to South Side; the team who would go on to win the County Championship. Considering 2021 was the first season in two years, with the 2020 season lost to the pandemic, this was an impressive feat by Roslyn. “Last season was one of the most successful years that we have had in school history,” said Freeman. “We were conference champions for the first time in almost 30 years and finished on a twelve game winning streak. We stayed undefeated at home, had three All-County players (Jordan Zucker, Danny Rosman, ...

Roslyn Will Look To Outsmart and Outplay their Competition

by Ben Diamond Just like every other coach, Roslyn head baseball coach Dan Freeman lost many seniors after the cancelled 2020 season. Players like catcher Andy Simon who Freeman felt was becoming a commander on the field, and Jordan Bernstein, one of the team’s captains who was a three-year varsity player, among other players like left fielder Ryan Rabinowitz, and utility infielder Brad Basel were big losses according to Freeman because of their impact on the team.  “We had a good crew of seniors that were really hungry,” Freeman said. “We amped up the offseason workouts and they showed up, at every single one of them.” This year, Freeman’s squad showcases the school’s valedictorian Jordan Zucker, and salutatorian Danny Rosman. Zucker is a five-year starter in center field and on the...
