Sachem East Looks to Build On Last Year’s Playoff Appearance

Having played Ward Melville four times already in 2017, Sachem East was very familiar with them. They took the No. 1 seed right down to the wire, loading the bases with two outs down by one run. They were unable to cash in and they had their season ended against the League I powerhouse. Nevertheless, it was a successful year as they finished with a record of 13-8, won a playoff game over Brentwood and even had the League I MVP reside in their own dugout, senior Anthony Siroka who dominated the opposition with a 5-0 record on the mound and at the plate with a .459 AVG, 6 HR and 25 RBI. “He was probably one of the most feared hitters in Suffolk County,” said 13th year Head Coach Kevin Schnupp. “He hit with power and he hit to all fields. He was also a team leader and weR...

Dan Palermo Commits to Iona

Iona College is coming off a season in which they made a great playoff run in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), rattling off three consecutive wins in elimination games before having their dreams dashed by No. 2 Marist. Additionally, lights-out closer Jared Finkel (11 saves, 1.41 ERA) was selected in the 23rd round by the Minnesota Twins. Today was another positive day for the program as OF Dan Palermo (Sachem East 2018) accepted their offer and announced his commitment. He spoke to Vinny Messana and here’s what he had to say… Talk a little about your recruiting process and how the commitment to Iona came to be. My recruiting process involved a lot of top JUCO teams and I figured I would be going in that direction until I met Coach Carey from Iona and took a tour a...

Next Level Baseball Takes First Two Games of Tournament

Final: Next Level 4, Cangelosi Sparks 2 WP: Ryan Martin pic.twitter.com/oZMbw6KlOK — Axcess Baseball (@axcessbaseball) October 6, 2017 Strong pitching, great defense and a red-hot bat of Aidan Larkin (Chaminade 2019) was the key to a pair of victories today for Next Level Baseball. Game One Pat Cullinan got the start, but struggled with his command and was lifted with the game tied 1-1 with bases loaded and one out in the third inning. William Kennedy (Smithtown East 2019) came on in relief and put out the fire in a big way. He fanned the cleanup batter and induced an infield pop out from the following hitter. Next Level wasted no time taking the lead in the top of the fourth when Kennedy walked and stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Larkin hit a sac fly to medium-ran...
