Right off the bat, it looked to be a pitchers’ duel, with Rob Milopsky getting the start for Rocky Point, facing off against Brock Murtha for Sayville. It certainly lived up to expectations, as the game required extra innings, with both starters each only allowing one run through the first  seven innings. The hard throwing right handers traded zeroes for the first three innings, with Murtha particularly dominant, recording six strikeouts and only allowing one hit the first time through the order. He also contributed at the plate, leading off the top of the fourth ...

Rob Milopsky Slams The Door With 6-Out Save To Protect 4-3 Victory

LI Titans Head Coach Paul Parsolano made that clear following his team’s 4-3 victory over Next Level Baseball on Tuesday evening at Mitchell Field. He brought in RHP Rob Milopsky (Rocky Point 2019) with runners on 1st & 2nd with 0 out in the 6th inning to protect a 4-3 lead after the previous four batters all reached base via hits to cut the lead to one-run. Milopsky came on and struck out the side in the sixth and cruised through the seventh inning with three ground outs. Milopsky stated that he knew when he came in with runners on he “needed to throw strikes to...

Rocky Point Defeats Shoreham-Wading River to Capture First County Championship

by Brett Goldstein Rocky Point is your Class A Suffolk County Champions! They win by a final score of 7-3. pic.twitter.com/4wg8Sn1vpt — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 29, 2018 For the first time in program history, the Rocky Point Eagle are Suffolk County Class A Champions. Upon first glance, it seemed as if it may be a low-scoring affair, possibly a pitchers’ duel. Shoreham was sending LIU Brooklyn-commit, Ryan Mullahey, to the mound, and Rocky Point was sending Rob Milopsky to the hill. However, it was not a pitchers’ duel, ending in a Rocky Point victory with a score of 7-3. Senior second baseman John Rosman has been a valuable contributor to the Eagles offense as of late. He opened up the scoring in the second inning, when he hit a double to drive in Trey Miller. On his recen...

Grillo’s Walk-off Homer sends Rocky Point to Class A Final

by Brett Goldstein The Eagles win 4-3, on a walkoff home run by Joe Grillo. pic.twitter.com/qJ9WHNLQ3c — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 26, 2018 With one swing of the bat, Joe Grillo sent Rocky Point to the Suffolk Class A Finals to face Shoreham-Wading River in a rematch of 2016 semifinals. Grillo is no stranger to big games. He’s been a key cog for the Eagles since he debuted on varsity. Saturday, he was in the same spot. A Rocky Point win would send them to the county championship, but a loss would mean elimination. Grillo went five innings allowing three runs on four hits and four walks, to go with six strikeouts, effectively keeping his team in the game.  The first two innings were relatively quiet, with neither team able to muster up much offense.  Sayville looked to ...

Sayville Fights Off Elimination Against Rocky Point

Sayville forces another game against Rocky Point tomorrow after a 14-4 victory. Here’s Notre Dame-commit Brock Murtha on the win pic.twitter.com/lXgF03i8pR — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 25, 2018 by Brett Goldstein Sayville, coming off of extra innings thriller against Southampton, clobbered Rocky Point on Friday, winning by a score of 14-4. Notre Dame-commit Brock Murtha had a strong day on the mound, going five strong innings, allowing only two runs with eight strikeouts. A sloppy first inning by Rocky Point resulted in Sayville taking a 2-0 lead. A leadoff walk was followed by a double, which led to Murtha being intentionally walked to load the bases. Jake Russo followed up with a hard ground ball to 3rd base, but an error allowed all runners to safely advance. The fol...
