Recap of PBR’s Top Prospect Games: Long Island

It’s always exciting to team up with Prep Baseball Report on a Long Island event. Between their talented staff, state-of-the-art technology and our social media presence, it’s a perfect fit. Yesterday was their Top Prospect Games: Long Island held at Medford Athletic Complex and it featured 40 players from the region. Players were tested on their 60-yard dash times, they ran through infield/outfield drills and a round of batting practice before getting into a game. There was plenty of talent in attendance. Here’s a few of the Long Island players that caught my eye: Vito LaRosa, Northport 2024 .@JaspersBaseball ‘24 OF Vito LaRosa (Northport) No. 12 ranked OF in NY among rising seniors at a long 6-4, 180 with room to fill out. John Glenn Motivated By Last Year’s Ending

April 5 was the pinnacle of the season. That was the day that John Glenn pulled off a huge upset of Shoreham-Wading River by the score of 7-3 behind starting pitcher Joe Muchnicki. It wound up being the last loss of the season for the Wildcats until the Long Island Championship, who rolled off 20 consecutive wins behind a dynamic offense and the two-time Carl Yastrzemski Award winner. “The guys were literally jumping out of their skin,” said second year Head Coach Matt Rocchio. “The build up was that they were unbeatable. Muchnicki was able to command his offspeed pitches–his curveball for strike one and his change up kept them off balance,” he added. That outing immediately followed his no-hitter in his season debut against Miller Place in his varsity debut. ...

Long Islanders Shine In PBR’s New York Games

This year was the third annual New York Games hosted by Prep Baseball Report. It was held at three locations including Maine-Endwell HS, Union-Endicott HS and Binghamton University. I was at the latter on Monday and Tuesday, and was fortunate to see some of the top high school players from Long Island. Below are my thoughts on each of the players that performed well. Dylan Judd (Oceanside ’18) Judd is a very underrated player but he is not a secret. He is a well-built prospect with a 6’1″ 190 lb frame. He has a 1.9 pop time and an exit velocity approaching 90 MPH. He has a short, compact swing. Very impressive player that has proven to be a winner. Brendan McFall (Oceanside ’18) McFall had a terrific 2017 season for the Sailors. He was named aXcess Conference AA-I M...

Two of the premier recruiting organizations have agreed to a have a working relationship. Blue Chip Prospects and Prep Baseball Report-NY have come to an agreement to co-host a series of showcases through out the 2017 year–in order to offer an unparalleled opportunity for high school players. “This relationship allows us to combine our resources to optimize college exposure for the amateur baseball community,” said BCP President Jim Clark. He added, “We really feel it is the best of both worlds. Over the past 20 years, our events have been known to attract a strong turnout of college coaches–both regionally and nationally. If you combine that with PBR’s online presence and video service, it allows us to offer the best service possible.” PBR-NY Dire...
