The Hofstra-commit, who was named First Team Preseason All-Long Island came out of the gate firing, striking out three hitters in the first two innings that he breezed through. But head coach John Givargidze’s team, they are facing that challenge head-on. Givargidze, who is entering his 11th season as the head coach of the Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK Hawks, looks to rebound after a strong season that didn’t end the way anyone imagined. “We finished 20-8. We lost in the county finals on a walk-off grand slam with two outs. So we really couldn’t have gotten any closer to our go...

While it’s never smart to count out the Chiefs, their backs were firmly against the wall after 3 innings – when they trailed 6-1. Massapequa had jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when, who else, Erik Paulsen ripped a one-out double to the right...

The Hawks, who graduated one of their best players in program history last season in Dylan Banner, were able to rely behind last year’s postseason exit and exercise those playoff demons against their crosstown rivals. The teams split the first two games of the series with the road teams winning each game. Plainview made sure to take some of the anxiety out of the home crowd as they drew back-to-back walks to start the g...

JoJo Burriesci ripped a single to put runners in scoring position and No. 2 hitter, Michael Craig, followed with an RBI double into the right center fi...
