Though he was just a sophomore, he led the way offensively with a .420 batting average, .553 OBP and incredible 1.321 OPS. He compiled 29 hits, six doubles, six triples, four HRs, drove in 29 runs and scored 15 runs. He recently announced his commitment to Stony Brook University. He still has two full seasons of high school remaining, which is certainly bad news for opposing pitchers. His coach Colin Fratrik had the followin...
by Mike Merolle B1: Jayden Loccisano makes it 3-0 on an RBI double. Plainedge grounded in a run as well to make it 4-0 in the first inning. pic.twitter.com/NlBs3SkmDQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 26, 2024 The Plainedge Red Devils arrived at their home field on Friday for another game on their schedule but this one had a special meaning. It was senior night which is an annual tradition where the senior players are honored before and after the game. “It’s a great night for our seniors to come together for the last senior night of their career. Let’s have a good time, have some fun,” said Santino Battista, Plainedge’s senior arm. The Mepham Pirates rolled in hopes of capturing another win in the win column but were unsuccessful as Plainedge won 8-4. Battista was on his game...

Plainedge defeated MacArthur, 1-0, at home in a non-league game to open the 2024 schedule. Tyler Bonsignore was on the mound for MacArthur and he was near perfect. Bonsignore had two strikeouts in both the first and second inning and three in the third. He opened the fourth inning with his eighth strikeout of the day but Plainedge’s bats retaliated. Bobby Wescott hit a solo home run to open the game’s scoring. The lefty-on-lefty blast put a dent in the scoresheet but Bonsignore closed the inning...

Their season was cut short, however, by Mepham in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Head coach Colin Fratrik looks for another successful season in his 11th season managing Plainedge. This year’s squad is missing a few key players that graduated in 2023. Marcelo Licata played third base for Fratrik pro...

Plainedge, having been swept by rival Clarke during the regular season and lost early in the week during the playoffs, finally got their revenge and eliminated the Nassau powerhouse on Thursday by the score of 11-1. The game was uncharacteristic of Clarke, who suffered some defensive miscues including two costly ones in the first inning that allowed the inning to be extended and Plainedge batted around scoring 5 runs. The inning started with back-to-back well-struck doubles by Nick Gerardi and Zach Rosenzweig, both na...

They will come into the season without 2 of the team’s starting pitchers from last year. Team ace Tyler Kregeloh was named to the All-Long Island second Team after a 5-2 record with a 1.09 ERA and a .88 WHIP. Ben Ellenport who now pitches at Farmingdale will also be missed. Ellenport notched a 2.40 ERA and won 2 games. Other players the team will be without this year will be Troy Emmanual (Old Westbury) and Pat Reye...

The Plainedge sophomore fired five strong innings and even contributed a sac fly at the plate to get his offense going in the third inning. The game was played at a brisk pace – it was completed in just over 90 minutes thanks to strong pitching on both sides. B1000 Seminoles sent Ryan Kenny to the hill to oppose Rosenberg and both pitchers had their good stuff going. The game was scoreless through two innings, although LIB was able to get ...
By: Daniel Lopes Clarke Head Coach Tom Abruscato speaks after his teams 8-5 victory over Plainedge on Friday. pic.twitter.com/8glinAsSzK — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 22, 2022 In a tight battle between Nassau Conference A-IV division rivals Clarke and Plainedge, Clarke came out on top with an 8-5 victory at home on Friday morning. Nick Berasti and Ben Ellenport started on the mound for Clarke and Plainedge, respectively, with Berasti earning the victory. After a scoreless top of the first inning, Clarke wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning within the first three batters. After Nick Giardino and Zaim Deljanin drew walks to start the innings, Sean Welsh found a gap in the opposite field and legged out a two-run triple to give ...

Despite the losses, head coach Colin Fratrik’s team had a very successful season, going 13-3 and making it all the way to the county finals before losing in a game three to Bethpage. “The game came down to basically the last inning in the top of the seventh. We had the tying run on second base and we just were unable to get the big hit to get the game tied in that position,” said Fratrik. “We played some really good baseball and I was very proud of the team and the season...
When looking back on the last decade of high school baseball on Long Island, a number of players and games come to mind. When two of the more notable players match up in the Long Island Championship, it makes the moments even more indelible. In 2012, arguably the two best players on Long Island were Shoreham-Wading River’s RHP Mike O’Reilly and Plainedge’s LHP Tyler Manez. Those two locked horns in an unforgettable game at Dowling College. It’s a game that still gets brought up by those that were lucky enough to witness it. And for those that were key figures in the game – they will never forget it. Plainedge defeated Shoreham-Wading River, 3-1, in 11 innings with both pitchers going the distance. The game was scoreless into the 11th inning. Both pitchers wer...
by Andrew Connors We spoke to Plainedge’s head coach, Colin Fratrick about today’s win as well as what his team plans to do looking ahead at Game 2. pic.twitter.com/Jj3NTBu9Pz — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 16, 2021 The Conference 4 Varsity Baseball Championships kicked off on Wednesday afternoon with the Bethpage Golden Eagles slated to take on the Plainedge Red Devils. The stakes were high and the players’ emotions were running even higher, as both teams made it a point to come out loud, with energy. While Plainedge was able to keep this brand of high-energy baseball going for the duration of the game, Bethpage seemed to fizzle out rather quickly after they fell behind. Both teams were swinging the bat with ferocity out of the gates as they both scored in the first inning, b...
