That was the case for St. Joseph’s University after winning the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday. Their win over SUNY Maritime marked the Golden Eagles’ second straight title and 4th in 7 seasons (2016, 2018, 2022, 2023).  The action in the game would start up in the top of the 2nd inning for St Joseph’s, scoring four in the frame. John Lynch led things off with a double to left center field. OTD: Robbie Keane’s Big Day Gives Farmingdale 13-9 Comeback Victory Over Port Washington

Robbie Keane‘s played through sleet, through rain and through snow–but nothing quite like the wind today. The senior SS had a huge day at the plate in Farmingdale‘s 13-9 victory over previously undefeated Port Washington.  He admitted it was aided–at least in part–by a 45+ MPH sustained wind through out the day. He smacked a game-tying three-run home run in the fifth inning to right to even the score, 8-8, and then the go-ahead two-run triple to left field to give Farmingdale a lead of 10-9. “It helped and hurt us a lot,” he said following the game. “In the field we had a lot of balls just swirling in the air–lot of balls we should’ve caught just dropped and it helped us a little when we were batting–balls just carried. Farmingdale On The Verge Of A Potential County Championship Appearance

Over the past few years, Class AA has been controlled by dominant teams, followed by a few “on the bubble” teams. Constantly classified as an on the bubble team, Farmingdale is ready to change their fortune this season. “This year we need to get over that hill so we can look back, not up at our AA rivals which we have been battling with for the past number of years,” stated Head Coach Frank Tassielli.
