The Long Island Titans held their annual Media Day at the Cove Academy in Glen Cove today. Of their 2016 graduating class, 41 players have signed their letters of intent to play college ball. Of that group 30 were in attendance. Twelve players will go on to play Div-I baseball. That group includes Tristan Amone (Fairfield), Tyler Arella (Villanova), Brandon Bonanno (Stony Brook), Brandon Fanizza (NYIT), Nick Grande (Stony Brook), Garrett Heaton (Stony Brook), John LaRocca (Monmouth), Straton Podaras (Radford), Kyle Strovink (Lamar), Marc Wangenstein (Albany), Ray Weber (Albany) and Robert Weissheier (Hofstra). The Next Level Titans rolled through a 64-team tournament with an undefeated 7-0 record this week and they now qualify for the prestigious Perfect Game tournament in Jupiter, FLA which will feature the top amateur teams from across the world. During the tournament, they scored 64 runs while allowing only 10. Rob Weissheier, a 2016 graduate of Chaminade that is committed to Hofstra, was named the MVP of the tournament. Head Coach Shaun Manning stated that the team received tremendous defense all tournament from Cameron Tomaiko. The junior from St. Anthony’s made two stellar plays in their extra inning victory.
