Knieriemen wasn’t necessarily blowing guys away with his fastball, but his great mix of his curveball, slider, fastball and attacking the strike zone early and often made him hard to figure out in this contest against an MVP Beast team that was hitting well all tournament.  When MVP Beast did put runners on, they had a hard time capitalizing on it as Knieriemen picked off two runners from first base in first and third situations during this contest...

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with Alex Golub and Anthony Dinello after the Titans Victory over Team Francisco pic.twitter.com/Q7Iqku7XUK — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 9, 2022 The LI Titans-Quattrini are going to be a problem for many other teams this summer – if today was any indication.  The Titans came away with a 9-0 run-rule victory, showing a balanced attack up-and-down the lineup against Team Francisco Notorious 9. Offensively, everyone in the Titans lineup reached base at least once in this early season Boys of Summer League matchup. Some notable performances came from Anthony Dinello who kept a big rally going in the third inning by hitting an opposite field 2 run single. Alex Golub was responsible for knocking in 3 of the 9 runs scored by the Titans. He h...

Calhoun Captures First Nassau County Championship Since 2012

by Nick Cipolla Final: Calhoun wins the Nassau County Class A Championship 12-6 over Clarke. PJ Kakalos strikes out the last batter of the game to secure the victory for Calhoun pic.twitter.com/56K7FXIOjN — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 1, 2022 Hitting with two outs is what separates playoff contenders from championship teams. Both Calhoun and Clarke displayed that ability in today’s Class A County Final, but it was Calhoun’s ability to do this almost at will that made all the difference and lead them to victory. Clarke jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to two consecutive 2-out RBI singles from Giancarlo Rengifo and Zaim Deljanin. Clarke held Calhoun off the board in the bottom half despite a one-out double that went all the way to the wall b...

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with the Islip Owls winning pitcher Jaden Schmidt pic.twitter.com/rUo7OH08xB — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 30, 2022 The Islip Owls were dominant this morning at Eisenhower Park. They had everything going early and they never took their foot of the gas until the game was over. There were many contributors in this 8-0 run rule win over Knights Nation today, but none shined brighter than Jaden Schmidt. Schmidt pitched a gem today, a complete game (5 inning), 2 hit Shutout with 6 strikeouts en route to a Memorial Day victory. The Owls offense was on the attack early and often in this one. Jaden Schmidt helped his own cause in the bottom of the first, grounding into a fielder’s choice but scoring the game’s first run in the process.  I...

Yeti HDMH Uses Big Second and Sixth Innings to Victory Over Gamecocks

Post Game Interview with Christian Amoruso of Yeti HDMH and Lincoln Memorial University pic.twitter.com/8nchAP1X4r — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 30, 2021 by Nicholas Cipolla Just like the heat at the time of this game, Yeti HDMH bats came out scorching hot and didn’t cool down at all. After an offensive clinic in the first game by both teams, Yeti HDMH kept the offense rolling in game two. The scoring outburst began in the top of the inning when Lincoln Memorial University’s Christian Amoruso stepped to the plate with bases loaded.  Amoruso had put on a show in the first game and he kept the ball rolling with an RBI single to center field to make it a 1-0 game. The very next batter, Hofstra’s Matt Pelcher hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 game. Nick Siano followed it up hi...
