Stony Brook Wins Wild One over NYIT

What makes Stony Brook a dangerous team is they can play to any team’s strength. On Tuesday they were in a slugfest and scored 18 runs on 18 hits against NYIT.They held a 5-0 lead in the top of the third with Aaron Pinto on the mound, but he struggled mightily in the third inning. NYIT took a 7-5 lead with the big knock coming on a three-run home run by Louis Mele (3-for-6 four RBI), who now has nine homers and 40 RBI for the Bears. The Sea Wolves responded with three in the top of the fourth on a two-run RBI ground out and a wild pitch. They tacked on one more in the fifth, two in the sixth, four in the seventh and three in the ninth.Jack Parenty, Casey Baker, Andruw Gazzola and Jeremy Giles all compiled three hits while Malcolm Nachmanoff drove in three runs. Jeremy Giles started it off with a single and Andruw Gazzolla was hit by a pitch to advance him to second.
