FINAL: Adelphi 13, Le Moyne 2 WP: Nic Luc The Adelphi Panthers are headed to the NE-10 Championship this weekend against Southern New Hampshire ! pic.twitter.com/eh2F6i6UPi — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 17, 2021 It’s hard to believe that it’s been 7 years since Adelphi has competed in an NE-10 Championship game. In that year, they lost to Southern New Hampshire 2-0, with future MLB Draft Pick Jonathan Mulford on the mound. They will get another opportunity at Southern New Hampshire next Friday in the NE-10 Championship series – which will be best-of-three up in Manchester, NH to face the No. 20 ranked SNHU Penmen (22-6). Adelphi came to play today against Le Moyne, cruising to a 13-2 victory in the Southwest Division Final. The Panthers sent RHP Nic Luc to th...
Man, talk about deja vu. Last year it was the first weekend of January when John Mangieri hosted a scout day at Storm Sports Academy in Hempstead with some top local arms. Yesterday, was essentially Take 2 of the event since all of the pitchers are back in the same spot entering 2021 as they were last year. Hopefully, they are not robbed of another season of development and have a chance to dominate and get drafted. Here’s some of my thoughts on the arms that I saw: RHP Nic Luc School: Adelphi University Height: 5’10 2020 Stats: 15 IP, 12 ER, 15 K Luc has an extremely fit build and throws exceptionally hard for a pitcher of his height. He has refined his command to the point where he pounds the strike zone consistently. He is entering his fourth season (redshirt junior) at Ade...
With a week of not many surprises in Class AA, let’s take a look at the top 5 teams. 5. Farmingdale (7-2) (Last Week: Unranked) Although the Dalers have had several nail biters thus far, at the end of the day, they’re 7-2. Pitching has helped Farmingdale get to where they are right now, specifically Adelphi-commit Nic Luc and freshman Justin Rosner. Farmingdale will match up against Oceanside in a highly-anticipated series. 4. Calhoun (6-3) (Last Week: 4) After sweeping Herricks in convincing fashion, Calhoun has solidified their spot in the top 5. Led by Jack Pugliano offensively, the Colts always seem to string together hits at the right time and work themselves into great hitters counts. For that reason alone they are a team to be on the lookout for. Calhoun will face the de...
When the aces take the hill, the offenses tend to go dormant. That was the theme today as Brian Morrell (Shoreham-Wading River ’17, Notre Dame-commit) and Josh Rovner (Pat-Med ’17, Adelphi-commit) both fired no-hitters, while Ben Brown (Ward Melville ’17, Siena-commit) and Brian Morrisey (Commack ’17, Stony Brook-commit) fired two-hit shutouts with double-digit Ks. This year is especially heavy on power-throwing right-handed pitchers and you can also throw Nic Luc (Farmingdale ’17, Adelphi-commit) and Nicholas Trabacchi (Smithtown West ’17, UMBC) to the mix who both fired gems today Brown has been close to perfect this year. Through three starts, he is yet to allow a run and has fanned 30. It will be a fas...
