The class of 2022 is no exception as all 15 players are committed to a college. That is just a prelude to the next few graduating classes as both 2023 and 2024 are stocked with high-end pl...
JJ Gatti capped a great 2021 season with his recent college commitment to the University of Dayton. The college, which is located in Ohio, competes in the Atlantic-10 conference and reached the conference championship this past season and also the last full season in 2019. Gatti is a a talented RHP that helped lead Chaminade to the CHSAA Championship this season in a sweep over Kellenberg. He will enter the season as one of the favorites to capture the Pitcher of the Year. I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say… Can you talk about your experience with the college recruiting process and why you chose Dayton? My college recruiting process was filled with many ups and downs as I’m sure goes for most people. I had went from being on nobody’s rada...
by Nicholas Cipolla Sac Fly to right by Steven Hardiman makes it 3-0 Next Level pic.twitter.com/u4DltI9flX — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 28, 2021 Olivia Pichardo has become a larger than life figure as she has become one of the best female pitchers in America. Today she showed any doubters that the hype surrounding her is in fact real. Pichardo had an outstanding outing against the Diamond Spikes in a 4-2 win for Next Level. She had many innings where she had only 6 or 7 pitches, thus allowing her to pitch deeper into the game and continue to frustrate the Diamond Spike batters. Pichardo finished the game with only allowing 2 hits over 5 innings of work, striking out 2 and walking only 1 batter. She even had a streak of retiring 12 batters in a row after issuing a walk in the...
Nick Ungania (Chaminade 2022) pic.twitter.com/91vb7zALKH — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 3, 2020 When the news was released last year that a Long Island-native gifted SUNY Binghamton baseball with a $60 million donation – the largest in university history – it had a few tangible effects. Besides bringing some additional credibility to northeast baseball, it also immediately became a destination for high-end players. Getting recruited by Binghamton had gotten a little more competitive. The school is already ranked No. 88 in the U.S and now they are about to have arguably the second best baseball complex in the nation. Justin Rosner is a 2020 Farmingdale graduate that is currently at Binghamton, and he will be getting joined by another Long Islander in the fall o...
When two fundamentally sound teams match up in the championship game of a tournament, it is certain to be determined by one or two mental mistakes. That was the case between Next Level Baseball and the Taconic Rangers on Wednesday’s 16U Championship game of the Blue Chip Invitational. In a scoreless game in the top of the fourth, speedster Nick Ungania ripped one into the left center field gap for a clean hit. The two outfielders, however, took inefficient routes and the ball scooted between them and towards the fence. Ungania turned on the afterburners and came all the way around to score on an inside-the-park HR. Leading up to this point, the game was going just about as crisp as a 16U game will go. Both starting pitchers were effective – Robbie Gilchrist for Taconic and JJ G...
This weekend I was in Fort Myers for the immensely-popular WWBA Underclass World Championship. There were five Long Island-based teams competing; Motus Academy, MVP Beast, Body Armor Titans, Next Level Baseball and the East Coast Lumberjacks. Here are some of my biggest takeaways from the weekend. With 202 teams in the tournament and college coaches from everywhere–including Power 5 conferences, this is a must-attend event. The facilities of the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins are absolutely gorgeous. If you love baseball as I do, it really reminded me of why I fell in love with the game. With no Major League game being played, I was able to walk around the ballpark and it made me appreciate the rudimentary aspects of the game such as that feeling when you walk through the rotunda...
