by Trevor Dugan Axcess caught up with the Legacy Prospects after their win at Diamond in the Pines @liboysofsummer pic.twitter.com/KK7gHMyOhc — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 22, 2024 18u/17u Next Level Baseball faced off against the Legacy Prospects Sunday morning at Diamond in the Pines, as part of the Boys of Summer fall season. Instead of a doubleheader, the two sides agreed to play one nine-inning game.  The lefty Josh Lubell got the start for the Prospects, while Next Level sent out a lefty of their own in Jack Murphy.  It was apparent right away that both starting pitchers had their best stuff in this one. Lubell struck out two batters in the first inning, his first of nine strikeouts on the day. He would pitch five innings for the Prospects, allowing no runs.  Lubel...

Incredibly, they allowed just 6 runs in the four games. Ryan Morash (Calhoun 2025) was the winning pitcher. The Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Collin Anderson (Chaminade 2025) who was red-hot all weekend, going 8-for-10 with 8 RBIs, 5 stolen bases and 2 doubles. Special thanks to all the teams that participated in the event, as well as the following colleges for sending coaches to be in attendance. Next Level Makes Comeback Behind Klarikaitis’ to Beat LIB 5-3

by Chris Prystupa Here’s Gabe Klarikaitis on his huge relief outing today. He came into the game in the bottom of the 3rd with bases loaded and got out of the jam. He continued to finish the rest of the game, logging 6k’s and earning the win against LIB. pic.twitter.com/csyaq0eWPk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 2, 2022 It was a beautiful Friday evening for a 4th of July tournament matchup between Next Level baseball and LIB Select. The scoring got started right away for Next Level who would take advantage of a throwing error that gave them an early lead.  In the bottom half of the second inning, LIB would tie and take the lead as they managed to get guys on base by putting the ball in play. James Kass and Michael Duda would be the ones to cash in on the RBI’s as they both brou...

Next Level Holds Off Late Rally for 4-3 Win

Final: Next Level 4, Team Francisco 3 WP: JJ Gatti @BCprospects pic.twitter.com/EJx8x4fS72 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 18, 2022 Familiar faces squared off in Saturday’s early morning match up between Next Level and Team Francisco Notorious 9 in the Blue Chip Prospect Father’s Day tournament. Despite a late rally by Team Francisco, it was Next Level who held on by the score of 4-3. Next Level sent JJ Gatti to the hill. He is coming off winning the first ever NYS CHSAA Championship with Chaminade last week and had one of the best seasons of any Long Island pitcher (7-1 record, 0.89 ERA, 54.2 IP, 70 Ks). Gatti fired a 1-2-3 inning against the impressive top of the lineup for Team Francisco of Dominick Carbone, Antonio D’Amore and Jason DeCaro. In the home hal...

Body Armor Defeats Next Level, Continuing Their Dominant Summer

by Gabe Zoda After the game we spoke to Dalton Rutt after his dominant performance on the mound (3.1IP, 6Ks, 0ER) pic.twitter.com/G443Piw0xp — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 6, 2021 Imagine being 15 years old and being able to play baseball at a professional baseball stadium.  That is exactly what the Body Armor Titans and Next Level Baseball were able to do while playing in the LI Boys of Summer 15u National Division. They faced off in what was sure to be a good game and when you are in Ducks Stadium, you are guaranteed “Good Times Every Time”.  The Body Armor Titans would end up soaring above their competition by winning by the score of 5-1. They would start the scoring early as they scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st.  This “quack” attack, or quick at...

Mike Steinberg Leads Titans to 3-1 Win Over Next Level

by Ethan Berch That’s the game! A complete game performance by Mike Steinberg seals the deal! Titans win 3-1 over Next Level. pic.twitter.com/C9tKUoWyTp — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 19, 2020 Boys of Summer kicked off its Fall season on a chilly evening at Mitchel Field. The LI Titans took on Next Level Baseball with dominant pitching and small ball taking the headlines in this match up. Mike Steinberg got the nod for the Titans in this one and was able to get himself into a groove very early in this one. Mike commanded a very nasty slider which just about no Next Level hitters were able to handle all night. “The slider was my best pitch by far, I had it working all night and I don’t believe anyone got a hit off of it” said Mike following his performance. Mike’s strong p...

Next Level Captures Blue Chip 16U Invitational

When two fundamentally sound teams match up in the championship game of a tournament, it is certain to be determined by one or two mental mistakes. That was the case between Next Level Baseball and the Taconic Rangers on Wednesday’s 16U Championship game of the Blue Chip Invitational. In a scoreless game in the top of the fourth, speedster Nick Ungania ripped one into the left center field gap for a clean hit. The two outfielders, however, took inefficient routes and the ball scooted between them and towards the fence. Ungania turned on the afterburners and came all the way around to score on an inside-the-park HR. Leading up to this point, the game was going just about as crisp as a 16U game will go. Both starting pitchers were effective – Robbie Gilchrist for Taconic and JJ G...

Get To Know Jack Reardon

When the topic of underrated players come up, there’s a million names you could go with–from those in small schools to someone returning from season-ending injury to players that get overlooked by other high-profile teammates. One name that always comes up is Jack Reardon. The Commack senior transferred from St. Anthony’s, where he was sometimes overshadowed by Division-I teammates to a school with…other Division-I teammates. Even so, rival coaches always point out his bat speed as reason to avoid him in a big spot. He announced his verbal commitment to New Haven last week, adding to the list of Commack players that will go on to play at great collegiate programs. I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say… Can you talk us through you...

LI Elite Win Extra Inning Thriller to Capture 16U Columbus Day Tournament

The test of a good team is the ability to overcome adversity and not wave the white flag. LI Elite showed incredible resiliency today in a 7-4 extra inning win in the 16U Columbus Day Tournament Finals against a terrific Next Level Baseball team. “We said we’d get into a slug fest today and we go punched in the face and bounced back,” said Head Coach Appel. “We’ve been a bend-but-don’t break team but any time we play a big game we seem to show up. Today we were able to foul off curveballs and hunt fastballs,” he added. They faced a very good pitcher in JJ Gatti. The hard-throwing righty had great stuff but he ran into some trouble leaving the ball up in this game. LI Elite scored two runs in the top of the second on a sac fly by Ryan Desmond and an...

Joe Durso Commits to St. John’s University

When it comes to baseball programs in the northeast, St. John’s University is at the mountain top in 2019. They have been for the past several seasons, since Stony Brook‘s cinderella run in 2012. They have made the NCAA Tournament 37 times, won nine Big East Championships, made it to Omaha six times for the Div-I College World Series and sent over 100 players to professional baseball. Simply put, they look for the best players. So when a Long Island player commits to St. John’s just before his junior season in high school and having not played varsity yet, it’s significant. They’ve pinpointed several of the region’s top players before they’ve rose to prominence, most recently Jake Lazzaro in 2017. Joe Durso became the latest player to join the list...
