The recipient of Axcess Baseball’s Player of the Week was Matt Boyajian. Below he is pictured with NYBA Director John Russo. This was the first of six weeks of the New York Baseball Academy (NYBA) at Hofstra University. The NYBA has been a staple of the Long Island Baseball scene for the past 42 years. After switching venues from NYIT, the camp has continued to feature instruction from the brightest baseball minds on the island, providing their knowledge to some of the top amateur talent in the region. Dozens and dozens of NYBA alumni have gone on to Div-I careers and two (Steven Matz and Justin Dunn) are currently playing professional ball. 2017 proved to be much of the same–which is why so many parents flock to send their young ballplayers to the NYBA. The New York Baseball Academy has been home to some of the top young talent in the northeast over the past 40 years. That–combined with a coaching staff that features former professional players and some of the most recognizable and respected baseball minds–has allowed the NYBA to be named one of the top five baseball camps in the country. In addition to learning a great deal, many of the players had awards bestowed upon them. More important than the skill-based awards were those who were honored for their ability to actively listen and incorporate that into the games. These individuals also gave their 100 percent effort all week and never failed to hustle. Below are the winners of the “Super Hustler” Award. Also pictured is 15-year-old Matt Pelcher who was the recipient of the fourth Mr.A...
