by Nick Cipolla Final: Brandon O’Neill hits an RBI single to end the game via run rule, MVP Beast wins 9-1 pic.twitter.com/lJ0AegAPSm — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 1, 2022 Sometimes a pitcher’s stuff is just so overwhelming that it is impossible for the opposing team to do anything. Mikey Furst was absolutely dominant in MVP Beasts 9-1 victory over 5 Star in last nights Blue Chip Prospects Varsity Elite Tournament game. MVP Beast jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first. The first run came in thanks to Benny Licata who hit a ball that the shortstop couldn’t handle. A dropped popup made it 2-0 MVP Beast and a run was balked in to make it 3-0 MVP Beast. MVP Beast scored 5 runs in the third inning. Danny Moccio got it started with an RBI single to left field to make it 4-...

The first one was a slugfest, so it was an action-packed game to watch.  James Sill took the hill for the Long Island Elite Prospects against the New York Crush. The Crush came out swinging early, starting with a Guerrero single followed by an Almonte RBI single two batters later. LaRussa then singled to righ...

Despite winning by 7 runs, it wasn’t easy for MVP Beast. They were down 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning before they erupted for 4 runs in the inning and scored 4 more runs throughout the rest of the game. Early on in this one, Nick Rizzo looked like he was on his A-Game for Team Steel Scout. As John Sterling would say, Nobody was beating the Riz early on as he struck out 5 batters in the first 2 innings while only allowin...

Justin Leguernic Commits to Clemson

Hard-throwing lefties don’t grow on trees. It’s one of the rarest commodities in the game of baseball along with power-hitting catchers. They are a scout’s dream. One pitcher in particular, Justin LeGuernic of Half Hollow Hills West, fits into the former category. The southpaw stands 6’4, has a laidback demeanor and throws gas from the left side. He participated in our 1st annual Mike Leiderman Cup two weeks ago and committed to Clemson University recently. I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say… Can you talk a little about your experience with the college recruiting process and why you chose Clemson? I found that in the college recruiting process you have to be focused and work hard because there’s so many great players out there...

Who Were Some of The Top Travel Teams in 2020?

Unfortunately we did not have a high school baseball season in 2020 which crushed a majority of our content throughout the year. This included game coverage, power rankings and postseason awards. Q & A With Cole Lindquist

Smaller programs such as John Glenn rely on strong individual grad classes to prosper together and deliver a playoff-berth for the school. John Glenn would’ve likely made a playoff run in 2020 had there been a season thanks to seniors like Dan Brown (Pace), Aidan Desmond (Gettysburg) and Matt Polestino (SUNY New Paltz). While it is unfortunate that they didn’t get a season, they do seem to be on the right path considering some of the players they still have in the program for the next two years. One particularly exciting player is two-way player Cole Lindquist. According to his coach, he said “he can literally play anywhere but he has really been shining on the mound.” This summer while playing for MVP Beast 2022, “he has been lights out.” He compiled a ...

MVP Beast Captures the 18U Northeast Elite On a Wild Walk-off

by Ethan Berch Axcess Repoter Ethan Berch (@eberch5) gets a word with the winning coach after a championship win! pic.twitter.com/0TwSCawulU — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 19, 2020 When you get a championship match up of Body Armor Titans and the MVP Beast, you just know we are in store for a good one. At Baseball Heaven, the Titans took on the Beast in a Championship game under the bright lights in Yapank. Matt Canizares got the start for the Beast. Matt had his velocity up early and was looking very good throughout his start. The Titans struck first when Colin Ross drove home the game’s first run with an RBI groundout to get the Titans up early. St. John’s-commit Kyle Chase was the starter for the Titans and he also on his game. Kyle touched 89 mph in the firs...

Aidan Tornquist: Why I Chose Fordham University

(Editor’s Note: Aidan is a 2019 CF/LHP graduate of Half Hollow Hills West. He recently announced his verbal commitment to Fordham University. The following words are his own.) On Sunday, March 18, I chose to commit to Fordham University. That frigid morning, I visited Fordham with my travel baseball coach, Pete Kritikos of MVP Beast, and my parents. Coach Kevin Leighton gave me a tour around the campus for an hour-and-a-half and I immediately fell in love with the school. I’ve always found myself looking for a small campus and I found exactly that when I toured Fordham. Coach Leighton went into detail about life as a Fordham student, more specifically as a student-athlete, and the support system offered by the school to foster students with great ambition. Over the past year, I...
