Fall Ball Series Powered by Revolution Athletics: Molloy University

Molloy has firmly established themselves as one of the premier Division-II programs in the northeast. They are coming off an outstanding season in which they won a program-record 42 games, captured the ECC Championship and the NCAA East Regional prior to losing in the Super Regionals to nemesis Southern New Hampshire. It could not have been a more dominant run through the East Regional as the Lions nearly shut out their opponents in all three games: (W) 7-0 vs No. 7 New Haven (W) 5-0 vs No. 6 Goldey-Beacom (W) 3-1 vs No. 7 New Haven The Lions advanced to face their rival Southern New Hampshire in the Super Regionals with a trip to the Division-II World Series on the line. It did not go nearly as well, as the Lions lost by the scores of 9-8 and 12-10 to end their season. They led 6-0...

Conversation With Garrett Scavelli

We are in a new era of college baseball which includes the transfer portal acting as free agency for the big Division-I programs. The reality is that it benefits the Power 5 programs much more than our local teams. In certain cases, however, a program like St. John’s could utilize the transfer portal and upgrade their roster with a player that has excelled at the Division-II level. Garrett Scavelli, a player that thoroughly dominated at Molloy University on his way to being named the 2023 ECC Player of the Year, entered the transfer portal in that summer. Over his 3 year career, he slashed .357/.458/.562 with 121 runs scored, 92 RBIs and 60 extra-base hits. It was a major talking point from local coaches who obviously were interested in Scavelli’s services, but also in the situ...

D’Youville, despite stumbling in the tournament’s opening game against No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas with a 7-3 loss, strung together two consecutive victories to secure their first ECC Championship berth in their inaugural season as a Division II program. Conversely, Molloy earned their third championship appearance in as many years, bolstered by a formidable pitching staff that yielded just four runs across the initial t...

They win it 9-8 in 10 innings on a walk-off pic.twitter.com/6qeecjEjAD — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 13, 2023 Despite losing on Friday and facing elimination, Queens College was able to rattle of three straight wins – including two against the two-time defending ECC Champs, Molloy, and winning their first Conference Championship in 25 years. It was a remarkable day of baseball for everyone that stuck around for both games – which includes 19 innings of baseballs and more runs than you can count. The level of difficulty for Queens College entering today was incredibly high – as they were not only entering the day fatigued from the previous two days, but they needed to face one of the best pitcher...

Saturday College Recap (2/18) Powered by Orlin & Cohen

by Andy Smith It was day 2 of the college baseball season, and although the local Division-I programs have gotten off to slow starts, it was the reigning ECC Champs that provided the bright spots for Long Island baseball. Here’s how it went down… Division-I: STONY BROOK It was another rough day for Stony Brook as they dropped the second game of the series against California State Northridge by a score of 14-4.  The Seawolves could not keep up with the potent Matadors offense who jumped out to a five run lead in the first inning.  The Matadors registered 17 total hits and two home runs.   Despite the loss, first baseman Brett Paulsen was productive at the plate once again, this time with an RBI double.  Senior Brandon Lashley was dominant in relief, throwing a scoreless 3.1 inni...

Longtime coach Joe Fucarino has built Molloy into one of the best Div-II programs in the region and they are looking to build on the recent success pic.twitter.com/Yb17jFthpk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 21, 2022 In 2020, we saw a Molloy program that appeared to be on the verge of breaking out. Obviously, that was thwarted by the pandemic, however, with the bulk of that team returning for the next two years it was clear that they were looking to capitalize and win a couple conference championships. That’s exactly what they were able to accomplish – led by longtime head coach Joe Fucarino and a loaded roster that was among the most talented Division-II teams in the nation. The Lions were named the 2021 Axcess College Team of the Year and followed that up with a...

Auffant and the Ravens Defense Shine as Franklin Pierce Wins 8-0 Over Molloy to Force Deciding Game

by Chris Prystupa Andres Aufant (Center Moriches) went 5.2IP in relief allowing only 5 hits and keeping the Molloy bats quiet. Here is his reflection on his outing and FPU’s win today. pic.twitter.com/QLCjPN5x01 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 21, 2022 Everything seemingly fell into place today for the #6 Franklin Pierce University Ravens as they defeated the #2 Molloy Lions by a score of 8-0. After a scoreless first inning the Ravens took advantage of back-to-back to back errors committed by the Lions to jump out to a 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the second inning the Ravens made one of the best decisions and summoned Andres Auffant out of the bullpen and never looked back.  Auffant, a Center Moriches alum, had just about everything in his arsenal working today as he went 6 ...
