David Groeneveld Voted April’s MVP

Photo Credit: LIU Post Athletics The people have spoken! After a whopping 2.548 votes, LIU‘s first baseman David Groeneveld has been voted MVP of April. Last month, Dan Parisi of Dowling had the award bestowed upon him after receiving a majority of the 748 votes. This season, Groeneveld is batting .305 with a .407 OBP and .421 SLG percentage. He has nine extra-base hits. In April, however, he has taken his game to another level. He entered the month with a .219 average after their March 30 game against St. Thomas Aquinas. Since then, he has amassed 22 hits in 17 games and scored seven runs to become one of the most consistent forces in the Pioneers’ lineup. “I thought it was really good,” he said in regards to his April performance. “I made a few adjustments t...

Farmingdale Sweeps Keystone

Photo Credit: Farmingdale State Athletics The Farmingdale Rams got back on track by sweeping a double header from Keystone College by the scores of 5-4 and 5-1 to improve 4-8. In Game One, the Rams got on the board first when Brian Brenton reached on an error. They added three in the second inning on a double steal which scored Christopher Reilly, Ryan Jordan‘s RBI single and an error which scored Jordan.Keystone responded with two in their half of the second inning on an RBI single by Julian Lanfranco, The Rams got one back in the third when PJ Harrington singled home Brenton. Keystone got that run back in their half on an RBI single of their own. They inched closer in the fourth on an RBI ground out by Lanfranco.
