Apicella’s starting pitcher Matthew Brienza faced off against Lumberjack’s pitcher Matthew DeStefanis in what would eventually become a lopsided victory. Both pitchers held their competition in check for the first two innings. Apicella getting on the board first courtesy of an RBI single off the bat of Thomas Ford. C.J. Forman answered back quickly for the Lumberjacks with a sacrifice fly to even the score at 1-1 in the top of the second inning. A rout of offensive firepower combined with a strong pitching performance gave Batting 1000 the advantage and eventually emerge victorious. Back-to-back one-two-three innings for both teams indicated the possibility of a low scoring game. Batting 1000 starting pitcher Chrish Patel remained virtually unhittable throughout the game, and his offense provided him with plenty of run support. A pitcher’s duel between Red Dogs pitcher Brandon Scott and Thunder’s Connor Sanders saw just a 1-0 Red Dogs lead for the first four innings. An RBI single by Red Dogs’ Matt Infranco was the game’s only run until the bottom of the fourth inning. The Red Dogs got a much-needed cushion on their lead when Tyler Giordano crushed a two-run home run over the left field wall off Thunder reliever Matt Biscardi. What began as a pitcher’s duel, developed into a nail biter that saw neither team emerge victorious. Andrew Campon took the mound for the Sharks against the visiting Freedom. Campon avoided trouble after surrendering two singles to Nico Hendrickson and Jack McAllister. Hendrickson was on the bump for the Freedom and dealt a quick one-two-three inning.
