Luke Napolitano Drives in 7 Runs as Hofstra Salvages DH Split With La Salle

It should’ve been a double header sweep, but the Hofstra Pride salvaged a split with La Salle on Monday thanks to a heroic performance by redshirt freshman Luke Napolitano – as he went 4-for-5 with 7 RBI in a 14-5 victory in the night cap to improve to 4-2 on the young season. Game 1 The Pride could not have gotten out to a quicker 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The red-hot Austin Gauthier led off with a solo shot to right field. In the third inning, it was Gauthier again who ripped an RBI double to score Kevin Bruggeman and open up a 2-0 lead. Jimmy Joyce was on the mound and he retired the first 7 batters of the game – including striking out the side in the second inning. He allowed his first base runner on a single by Connor Coolahan but he was erased attempting to ...

Up Next Powered By The Yard Sports Academy: Paul Napolitano

(This is the third installment of our popular ‘Up Next’ Series in which we spotlight the top underclassmen on Long Island. None of the players have appeared in a varsity game yet, but we are confident they soon will. The first two features were Jayden Stroman and Liam Stemmler. Check out the Yard Sports by clicking here.) Playing at a small high school has its pros and cons. While it may be more difficult to garner attention as media outlets don’t typically cover the games as frequently, it does give a freshman an opportunity to crack the starting lineup right off the bat and have an impact for four seasons. In the case of Paul Napolitano, who has an older brother at Kansas and has already started turning heads with his performance on the national travel circuit, he could...

I got through the first inning, gave up a run in the second and then the offense helped ...

Alfalla Closing In On 200 Wins As Kellenberg Looks to Bounce Back From Last Season

If you are judging programs on their ability to win championships and get players to the next level, there’s no question that Kellenberg is right there with any program including Nassau and Suffolk public schools. Since 2016, they have won two CHSAA titles and have sent 21 players to the collegiate level. Chris Cappas (Pittsburgh), Robert Weissheier (Hofstra) and Terrence Murray (Fordham) are all playing at the Division-I level while Kevin McCarthy is in the Major Leagues with the Kansas City Royals. Last year was certainly a down year by their standards, falling to 8-13 after winning back-to-back CHSAA championships and being named Axcess Baseball’s Team of the Year in 2017. “During the previous two years we found ourselves in a lot of one-run situations where we would b...

LI Titans Head Coach Paul Parsolano made that clear following his team’s 4-3 victory over Next Level Baseball on Tuesday evening at Mitchell Field. He brought in RHP Rob Milopsky (Rocky Point 2019) with runners on 1st & 2nd with 0 out in the 6th inning to protect a 4-3 lead after the previous four batters all reached base via hits to cut the lead to one-run. Milopsky stated that he knew when he came in with runners on he “needed to throw strikes to...
