While 2024 was not a great season for Sachem East, they did have to be thrilled with the progress of sophomore RJP Jake King. The big righty had a very solid season for the Arrows, compiling a 3.20 ERA over 6 starts with 27 strikeouts. He formed a formidable rotation along with Jamie Apicella and Austin Barrett. Following the season, King took his game to the next level for the Body Armor Titans. He notched a 6-1record while firing 37 innings with a sparkling 1.10 ERA. He struck out 52 batters while yielding just 22 hits (.170 opponent AVG). His high school coach, Kevin Schnupp had the following to say: “Jake has become a team leader this year in our fall workouts. He’s looking to build off a successful sophomore campaign in a tough league. He was the type of pitcher with a bu...
Surprise! It was a very short stay on the taxi squad for Logan O’Hoppe. He’s starting tomorrow.https://t.co/DFHFsHYzST — Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) September 28, 2022 Huge news out of LA: Logan O’Hoppe (St. John the Baptist 2018) has been promoted to the big leagues by the Los Angeles Angels and will be starting tonight against the Oakland Athletics. O’Hoppe was traded at the deadline by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Los Angeles Angels for CF Brandon Marsh. The move was surprising at the time considering O’Hoppe had already established himself as one of the top 100 prospects in baseball and at the premium position like catcher nonetheless. After the move was completed, he was immediately regarded as the top prospect in the Angels system. Since that ti...
When people ask how programs like Connetquot are also to continually produce winning seasons year-after-year, it starts with the dedication of the players and coaches at the youth level. During the shutdown season of 2020, I heard about how good the freshman class at Connetquot was and that they would be a force in a couple years. That came to fruition as the T-Birds captured their League Championship yet again before losing in the postseason to Smithtown West in a rain-soaked two-day game. One of their biggest contributors was junior captain Anthony Scarabino who was named Team MVP, All-League and All-County. He batted .436 over 23 games with a .563 OPS, .551 SLG 1.114 OPS, 34 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 27 RBIs, 34 runs, 18 walks and 11 stolen bases. The do-it-all outfielder recently ann...
Raab topping at 88 MPH today pic.twitter.com/PVdE6H91mx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 18, 2020 When you are pitching on the same staff as other established arms like Rafe Schlesinger, Tommy Ventimiglia, Dylan Johnson and Jacob Steinmetz, it can be hard to garner all the attention. But 6’5 RHP J.T. Raab (MacArthur 2021) has certainly turned heads with his performance this summer and fall for the Long Island Titans-Quattrini. The No. 1 ranked 2021 team in the region had an outstanding summer, and finished off with a bang at the Northeast Elite Tournament. For the year, Raab posted an unblemished record of 9-0 with a 0.49 ERA. As if that’s not impressive enough, his peripheral numbers were even more astounding. He struck out 12.7 batters per 9, allowed 2.6 hits pe...
It’s been a year of accomplishments for St. John the Baptist grad Logan O’Hoppe. First, he led the Cougars to the CHSAA Championship, then he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 23rd round of the MLB Draft and finally he was named 1st Team All-American Gold Glove Award winner by Rawlings. The latter of which was awarded to the top prep catcher in the country. Only three base runners attempted steals on him this season. He can add one more award to his mantle, as he was voted the 2018 Axcess Baseball Man of the Year by his peers, garnering 62 percent of the votes, edging out Anthony D’Onofrio and Matt Hogan. Since getting drafted, he has further raised his stock. He posted a slash line of .367/..411/.532, proving he is not simply a defensive-minded catcher. He...
Chandler Giovinco (Newfield 2019) discusses his experience with the college recruiting process and why he chose @HofstraBaseball pic.twitter.com/Vr0j7HoC0x — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 28, 2018 Tonight was the annual Media Day for the Long Island Titans at Prospect Sports in Farmingdale. Their 51 members of the 2019 graduating class came together for photos and interviews, discussing their experience with the college recruiting process. Among those 51 are 20 Division-I signees including schools such as Miami, St. John’s, Georgetown, Maryland, Kansas, Jacksonville, Northeastern, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Rhode Island and UNC-Wilmington. Smithtown East catcher Matty Tempone had the following to say about his experience: “The college recruiting process can be draini...
Sean Lane (St. Dominic) has shown some legitimate pop. And he’s only a freshman pic.twitter.com/ymE7EuKHEU — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 5, 2017 There’s only a handful of degrees in this country that really stand out upon graduation. With most students now getting four-year degrees, the value of a degree has begun to decrease. That is unless you go to a prestigious university such as Notre Dame. For the third time in the last four years, a Long Island baseball player has committed to Notre Dame. St. Dominic 2021 third baseman Sean Lane announced his verbal commitment earlier this week. The powerful sophomore has a chance to join Brian Morrell and Brock Murtha as local players to attend the world-renowned university. I had a chance to speak with Lane and here’s...

LI Titans pitcher Nicholas Incalcaterra after his dominant performance. pic.twitter.com/fJKkAXkjbB — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 8, 2018 The Long Island Titans tallied their seventh win of the season Wednesday evening behind a dominant performance on the mound by Nicholas Incalcaterra. The Titans defeated Long Island Baseball, 4-1, in a game where LIB only had two runners make it to second base. Incalcaterra pitched six innings of one-run ball, struck out eight, and allowed only three hits. After Incalcaterra struck out the side in the top of the first inning, the Titans didn’t waste any time putting runs on the board. In the bottom half of the inning, Phillip Krpata ledoff with a line drive base hit up the middle. Krpata then stole both second and third base. Two batters l...
Sean Kennedy talks about the LI Titans’ 10-1 victory this evening. pic.twitter.com/zZQaaA7PFm — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 19, 2018 The Long Island Titans improved to 6-0 in the Boys of Summer 16U Scout Division, scoring at least 10 for the third successive game in a 10-1 victory over the B1000 Seminoles. After a scoreless top of the 1st thrown by the Titans starter Sanchese, the leadoff man in the bottom of the first manufactured a run. C.J. Cumbo singled, stole second, got to third on a groundout, and scored on a wild pitch. Later in the same frame, after a walk and a hit batter, Sean Kennedy drove one into the alley in left center that would plate a pair. Kennedy, who was at third, scored on a sacrifice fly. “I jumped on the fastball today,” Kennedy said. “I took an ag...
The New York Mets continued the trend of taking advantage of the pipeline of left-handed pitching prospects from Long Island. They selected Franklin Parra (Copiague HS) in the 11th round, joining Anthony Kay and Steven Matz as local southpaws selected by the organization in the past decade. Parra’s path to this point has been very unique. He was a relative unknown until last July, when his fastball velocity spiked to the low 90s, he dominated in front of scouts in East Cobb, GA and averaged 2.5 strikeouts per inning during the summer. He then continued that success through the fall where I began to follow his progress and realized this was not a typical situation. An elite left-handed pitcher that was less than a year from graduating high school yet he remained uncommitted to a colle...
