Kieran McLaughlin, a rising senior at Adelphi, started for the Thunder and faced the minimum through the first four innings. The left fielder turned tails and made an attempt to make a great play, but it landed just beyond his reach and rolled to the fence. With two outs, all three runners came around to score and with Guteknust’s speed, he was able to dive safely in to third base.
