by Gabe Zoda Got to speak with Brayden Soutar after the game after his 1-2 1RBI day at the plate and his 6 2/3IP, 4Ks day on the mound. pic.twitter.com/J5dwxR3bpN — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 21, 2021 If there was a definition of what a humid summer day feels like, this double header would be exactly it. LI Boys of Summer had some 15u action yesterday between the Body Armor Titans and LIB Vexxum. The first game of the DH they played was close but at the end it would be the Titans taking it by a score of 3-1 but the second game is what was even more exciting and thrilling to watch. That second game would end in a 2-2 tie but without a couple of crucial performances from a couple of players , that tie wouldn’t have happened. After winning the first game, the Body Armor Tita...
by Gabe Zoda Spoke with coach Brandon Stein for the LIB True Diamond squad after their 10-4 victory over the LI Storm. pic.twitter.com/DKWKLgOzZE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2021 Yesterday kicked off the 4th of July Stars and Stripes Tournament. In the 15u section, the LI Storm played against the LIB True Diamond. On a rainy day, these two squads seemed to find the perfect spot to play at Plainedge HS for their matchup. At the end of the day, LIB True Diamond would take the game by a score of 10-4. For most of the game, though, it was very close. One inning would end up changing all of that. The first inning would go by without any runs being scored. Starting Pitchers,(LP) Jimmy Stroehlien for the Storm and (WP) Danny Onorato for LIB True Diamond were able to make batt...
by Nicholas Cipolla Post game interview with Michael Boyle of the Jr Ducks pic.twitter.com/5u6AVfoG6F — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 25, 2021 Tonight just seemed to be one of those nights where everything seems to click for the Long Island Jr Ducks. The Ducks never trailed in a 7-2 win over the LIB Vexxum tonight. Pitching wise, it was hard to determine who had a better performance on the mound tonight. Michael Boyle was dominant through three innings of work, so when Riley Lake came on in relief in the fourth inning, it puzzled a few people at first. But Lake proved to be equally as dominant over the final three innings Boyle finished with a stat line of 3 innings pitched, no hits allowed, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. He also provided some offense as he hit a sacrifice fly in ...
by Ben Diamond Post Game Interview: Nick Piazza pic.twitter.com/btuVTDYDaQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 12, 2021 The Batting 1.000 Seminoles and the LIB Tides played a close low-scoring game. Both starting pitchers set the tone of the game early. For the Seminoles sending out right hander James Weedon to start the game and the Tides sending out Robert Wagner. To start, it looked as though both starters could go far into the game. Wagner started by striking out 4 of the first 5 batters to come to plate. But it didn’t last long, in the fourth inning Wagner got into a jam where he ended up surrendering an earned run on a Richie Apollo single. That was all he would give up as the Tides coach decided to bring reliever John O’Hannon. His final line was 3.1IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K and 1 ...
by Ethan Marshall Rebels head coach Bob Mascia on the team’s championship-winning performance. pic.twitter.com/WvN4GXZ8vL — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 30, 2020 The LIB Rebels, behind a six-run rally with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, beat Titans Schiff 10-6 to win the Summer League Championship. The Rebels’ 4-7 hitters: Nick Lombardi, Sam Kay, Cooper Schramm and Chase DeSantis; combined to go 8-for-9 with two walks, a hit batsman, six runs scored and nine RBI. Kay’s two-run double in the fifth broke a 4-4 tie and was the first of three straight RBI hits. “I was just looking to get a hit,” Kay said. Kay also credited his team for keeping the line moving throughout the game. “When one [player] got out, we just picked them up and got hits. Rebels head coach Bob M...
Although pitching wins championships, great offense can get you there. The 12U Long Island Baseball used their impressive lineup to power their way to a 12-1 victory over B1000 Seminoles-Kondak on Friday night at Cantiague Park. With the victory, they will now face Body Armor Titans on Saturday in the semifinals. The victory came as redemption after the Seminoles captured both games during the regular season. A.J. Wayne got things going right away for LIB with a triple to right field in the top of the first. After T.J. Bradford was hit by a pitch, Nick Kramer‘s RBI ground out to shortstop scored Wayne to get them on the board. Wayne was the starting pitcher for LIB and he was masterful. He fired a 1-2-3 first inning with two strikeouts to allow his offense to get back to work –...
by Salvatore D’Onofrio LIB keeps the pressure on by scoring 5 in the 3rd to extend the lead to 9-0. pic.twitter.com/OXD4DNyqJv — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 13, 2020 On a muggy Thursday morning at the Baseball Heaven Complex, the Long Island Baseball (LIB) and the Long Island Scouts Academy 18U/College team took the field knowing that both games were must win games as the season comes to an end and playoffs are around the corner. Both teams were able to come out with a victory. Here is how it happened. Game 1: Long Island Baseball attacked first by putting the pressure on opposing starting pitcher Devin Rooney. NYIT-commit Garrett Scavelli was able to get on base with a one-out base-hit to left-field. Starting pitcher for LIB Jake Lombardi was able to help himself wit...
Last night I had the opportunity to be on a conference call with Yankees RHP Luis Severino, thanks to my friends at Long Island Baseball and Play Ball International. He answered a number of questions from the young ballplayers regarding his best experiences on the diamond, how he built his arm strength, etc. After he answered those questions, I was able to ask three of my own. Here’s what he had to say. Vinny Messana: So we know the Dominican Republic is a hot bed for talent. I’m curious what the youngsters are doing to stay sharp during this time with no competitive baseball. Luis Severino: So I can talk about experiences I have with my brother, he’s working out down there with a couple friends. They’e just working out at the house. There’s a routine you can d...
Long Island Baseball captures the 15U Championship with a 7-6 come-from-behind victory. Sadier Vicioso fired four hitless innings in relief to record the win pic.twitter.com/uAZQdJT10K — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 14, 2019 It’s not often that you see a 6-0 lead squandered, and it’s even more rare in a Championship game when runs are typically at a premium but that’s exactly what we saw this morning in the 15U Finals. Sharks Baseball Academy came out of the gate firing, scoring six runs in the top of the second inning. They got the scoring going on an RBI single by Patrick Murnane followed by a wild pitch. Nathaniel Yee extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single to center field. James Cummins hit an infield single with the bases loaded to make it 4-0. A ...
Final: Titans 8, LIB 3 pic.twitter.com/x2fhVLZDKP — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 4, 2019 Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, the 10U LI Titans bats came to life on Independence Day. After an error opened the inning, they used a single and a two-run double by Tom Okpych to open up a 4-1 lead followed by an RBI infield single by CJ Everett to short stop to make it 5-1. Not content with their lead, they also got a two-run triple from lead off hitter Andrew Noe to break it open at 7-1. “Our team has been scoring a lot of runs in key situations,” said Head Coach Kenny Noe. “Today it was a 2-1 game and we put up a 5-spot to break it open. We’ve been coming up with big hits all through our order—we bat everybody—and everybody has really responded. We’ve been doing well,” he a...
Great finish as Sal Ansaldi snags a liner off the bat of Dylan Parker to seal a 3-2 victory for Long Island Baseball. WP: Ansaldi: 5 IP, 12 K, 2 R pic.twitter.com/WQoTd31nnh — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 20, 2019 Even at the younger levels, pitching is the name of the game. LIB Bombers 9U were fortunate to receive an outstanding effort from young hurler Sal Ansaldi on the mound this afternoon against Long Island Junior Ducks. He went five innings, striking out 12 batters and allowing just two runs. “I felt comfortable on the mound,” said the 9-year-old. “I feel like defensively we played very well. I tried to stay calm on the mound, and tried to strike everyone out,” he added. He nearly did that, as he struck out two in the first, three in the second,...
Long Island Baseball was searching for their first win against Diamond Baseball Academy. Although they got things going early, scoring a run in the first inning, they were ultimately unable to come away with the victory, losing by a score of 5-1. Nick Cortes was on the mound for DBA, and it was a shaky first inning for him. He allowed a leadoff double to Joseph Apuzzo, who later came around to score on Michael Aplin’s single to right field. The following batter was then hit with a pitch, but was erased on a fielder’s choice, which left runners on the corners with two outs. Cortes came up with a big strikeout to escape any further damage. On the mound for LI Baseball was Mac Cooper, who got two quick outs. It all unraveled from there, as he gave up a triple to Nick Pinggera. The following b...
