As expected, offense was at a premium on the first day back after a four month hiatus from the field. Pitching was at the forefront, but Long Island Strong swept a double header against Batting 1.000 at PAL Complex. They won Game 1 by a score of 2-1 and threw a combined no-hitter in Game 2 by the score of 6-0. In Game 1, they sent Queens LHP Liam Pulsipher to the bump. He did his job, but the defense struggled through the first four batters of the game – resulting in one infield single, three errors and an unearned run to cross the plate on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Anthony Citarelli. Joe Stewart followed with a single to right field but the runner was held up at third. This wound up being a crucial decision as Pulsipher was able to bear down and strike out Tim Cassese ...
Nick Grande makes a nice play moving away from home plate. Stony Brook leads 3-0 after 1 inning pic.twitter.com/CE6OpChqg2 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 13, 2019 Stony Brook bounced back from Tuesday’s defeat by Iona with a smooth 9-3 victory over LIU Brooklyn. The offense got out to a quick start in the first inning with a three-spot. RBI singles by Brandon Alamo, Chris Hamilton and a sac fly by Evan Giordano gave them so cushion, and they never looked back. Bret Clarke made his first outing of the year and he was sharp; going two shutout innings and striking out two batters. He was named our 2016 Rookie of the Year. If he can rediscover that form, it will be a huge boost for the Sea Wolves. He topped out at 91 MPH in his outing. He was relieved by hard-throwing fresh...
Center Moriches defeats Marlboro, 5-1, to advance to the Class B New York State semifinals pic.twitter.com/9h7Q3GRINq — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 2, 2018 Losing the New York State Class B Championship was not something Center Moriches was interested in. Trailing by four runs in the sixth inning against Binghamton Seton Catholic Central, the Red Devils were staring defeat in the face and the prospects of a long bus ride back to Long Island as runner-ups. A seemingly innocuous at bat by DH Brad Sakellarides, however, mounted an improbable seven-run rally which featured a go-ahead hit by 1B Robert Copozzi. The Red Devils handed the ball to reliever David Franchi, who promptly slammed the door and delivered the first State Championship in program history. They had previously co...
The classic Suffolk County Class B playoff matchup between Center Moriches and Mattituck proved to be an action-packed two-day battle. Center Moriches hosted the game, as they are the No. 1 seed, and took care of business, winning 7-4. On Tuesday, the Red Devils and Tuckers only played two and a half innings. After a scoreless first the rain began to fall heavily. David Franchi started the game for the Red Devils. Despite the rain, the right-hander allowed just one run in the top half of the third, where the rain was coming down hard enough for the umpires to call the game after the half inning concluded. CM scored two runs in the second after third baseman David Falco led off the inning with a double over the center fielder’s head. He eventually came around to score after designated hitte...
Maryland-commit David Falco launches a 3-R shot and Center Moriches opens up a 4-0 lead in the first pic.twitter.com/FnrsDZsWf0 Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 4, 2018 It looked more similar to the opening credits of a Alfred Hitchcock movie, but there was a baseball played in the thick fog and light drizzle at Moriches Complex this morning, which did not deter Stony Brook-commit Liam Pulsipher at all. “It was pretty difficult,” said the senior southpaw following the big victory over Hampton Bays. “It was slippery but you know you have to play with what you’re given and over come those types of things,” he added. He walked two batters in the first inning–due to the slippery turf on the artificial mound–but he settled in and fired ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbifqwX4G7M&t=1s In a battle filled with current and future Div-I prospects, it was a third inning rally that enabled the Body Armor Titans to come out victorious in a friendly rivalry. In what was dubbed “McGregor vs Mayweather“, Titans-Parso took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run double by Nick Ungar (Connetquot ’18) on a well-struck ball off James Cardinale (Commack ’18) into left center field to score Will Feil (Wheatley ’18) and Chris Peralta (Valley Stream South ’18). That was all the offense they would muster up on this day against a loaded pitching staff. Kyle Johnson (Newfield ’18) came on in relief in the third inning and worked around a walk and a single to Mike Handal (Garden Cit...
Stony Brook-commit Liam Pulsipher was a dominant force on the mountin a must-win game on the road against No. 1 Mattituck. Pulsipher threw seven zeros on the board for the Red Devils, as he only allowed two hits, two walks and he struck out 10. The crafty junior lefty stepped up for his team against a tough opponent and opposing pitcher in Brendan Kent. “Liam has really progressed throughout the years, we had him as a freshman and each year he keeps getting better and better, staying composed under pressure, and he really has become a solid big game pitcher,” said CM head coach Dennis Donovan. “Nothing seems to bother him, which is rare for a kid his age.” The Red Devil’s offense was led by Rob Copozzi, who went 3-for-3 with a double and a run. CM got their scoring going early, as they ral...
Babylon senior pitcher Shaun Kaminski went head-to-head with Center Moriches junior LHP Liam Pulsipher–one of the best pitchers in the county. Kaminski fired a complete game, recording the 3-0 victory with five strikeouts, five hits and two walks. “It’s nice to finally beat Pulsipher, we dropped two games to him, the one last year in the county championship, 1-0, and early in the season, 3-1,” said Babylon head coach Victor Manzella. “I couldn’t be more proud of my boys, I couldn’t be more proud of Shaun [Kaminski]; the way he pitched and it was good to get a W in the first game of the playoffs.” The SUNY Old Westbury-commit opened up the scoring for Babylon after leading off the sixth inning with a single. Kaminski came across on an error off the bat of Joe Rende. This would end up ...

Also in attendance was St. Joseph’s and LIU Post. The best pitchers were Jason Diaz (Kellenberg ’19), Liam Pulsipher (Center Moriches ’18) and Nick Payero (Monroe Township ’18). I came away most impressed with Brad Malm (Pat-Med ’17), Anthony Amato (Smithtown West ’17) and Nathan Hampson (Victor ’18) ...
