Body Armor Titans Score Six In The Fifth Inning to Take Down Junior Ducks

In an evening game between the 15u Body Armor Titans, and LI Junior Ducks Schnupp, the Titans emerged victorious by a score of 9-2. While the Titans ultimately pulled off the victory, it was somewhat of a shaky start for them. Southpaw Justin Arciniegas was on the mound, and recorded two quick outs. However, he then walked back-to-back batters, and was then unable to make a play on a poorly hit grounder up the third base line. With the bases loaded and two outs, Wilmer Cuevas hit a ground ball up the middle. The Ducks were in luck, as what likely would have been the final out of the inning, actually gave them a 2-0 lead, as the ball struck the second base bag and bounced away from the fielders. Arciniegas was able to regroup, and induced another ground ball, this time for the final out of ...

by Lou Accumanno Being down three runs in the bottom of the third wasn’t an issue, as the B1000 Seminoles-Ferr scored six runs to put away the LIB Enriq, 6-3, at Mitchell Field. In the bottom of the third inning, pitcher for LIB Enriq, Owen Rose was in a jam himself with bases loaded and no one out. Sean Johnson for the Seminoles stepped up to the plate and smacked the ball down the first base line and sent home three runners to tie the ball game up 3-3. Sean Johnson said, “I had to stay calm, not to be overanxious with those runners on base and no outs. My hit got the team amped up a...

Although it was a relatively low-scoring affair altogether, each team had several opportunities to push some runs across. Arsenal threatened early, with three runners reaching base in the top of the first, two via walk, and one by fielder’s choice. However, the starting pitcher for the Titans, Thomas Walsh, was able to prevent a runner from crossing the plate. Leonard entered the game in the top of the 3rd trailing 3-2 and pitched 4 scoreless innings with 5 k’s and only 2 hits allowed, helping lead his team to their 8-3 victory. pic.twitter.com/09vbwA2cd8 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 8, 2018 Baseball like most other sports is a game of momentum. One little thing can change the outcome of a game dramatically.  In this case, though, instead of one little thing, the more proper thing to say would be one big inning. In a 15u Boys of Summer clash between Beast White and the B1000 Seminoles, Beast White jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the 1st inning. Josh DeCicco drove in Kelly Burke with an RBI single to get Beast off to a ...

Nick Cortes Fires 5 Strong Innings, Diamond Baseball Academy Wins 5-1

Long Island Baseball was searching for their first win against Diamond Baseball Academy. Although they got things going early, scoring a run in the first inning, they were ultimately unable to come away with the victory, losing by a score of 5-1. Nick Cortes was on the mound for DBA, and it was a shaky first inning for him. He allowed a leadoff double to Joseph Apuzzo, who later came around to score on Michael Aplin’s single to right field. The following batter was then hit with a pitch, but was erased on a fielder’s choice, which left runners on the corners with two outs. Cortes came up with a big strikeout to escape any further damage. On the mound for LI Baseball was Mac Cooper, who got two quick outs. It all unraveled from there, as he gave up a triple to Nick Pinggera. The following b...

Warantz delivered the biggest hit of the game with a Solo HR to lead off the 4th inning. pic.twitter.com/eCuQXWa4og — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 25, 2018 The sky was dark and gloomy. It seemed inevitable that rain would take a day of baseball away from the 17u LI Titans-Gutes and LI Baseball. Both teams were determined, however, to get one by Mother Nature and play their Boys of Summer matchup. Despite the weather, the Titans and LI Baseball put together a picturesque 7-inning game that embodied the beauty of the sport. A performance highlighted by powerful pitching outings. A wet ball seemed to have absolutely no effect on this game. LI Baseball starting pitch...
