13U Mudcats Complete Comeback to Win 8-5

by Ethan Berch Jameson Rieger closes things up and the Mudcats complete a comeback win 8-5 in 6 innings due to time limit! pic.twitter.com/Gwg0Thv0vT — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 29, 2020 It was a classic chilly and windy fall baseball game down at Brentwood State Park. The 13u Long Island Mudcats took on the 13u Long Island Thunder. In what seemed like an early blowout, the Mudcats didn’t let that phase them. Caleb Dwyer got the nod for the Mudcats in this one. However, he didn’t last very long. His start was interrupted in the second inning when the Mudcat infield put together a four error inning. Throughout all the errors and wild pitches, Dwyer only lasted 1.2 innings as Anthony Araujo finished the frame. The Thunder went up 5-0 after the second. Jack Kregeluh start...

After the Bulls took down the Elite in game one in stunning fashion, the Elite didn’t let that faze them coming into game two. Colin Rosen got the nod for the Elite with determination in his eyes. Colin was electric in this game as he kept the Elite in the game as it went back and forth early on. First, the Bulls struck first when they went up 1-0 on a Ryan Conk RBI double. The Elite...

West Islip Defeats Tru32, 6-3

by Jack McCluskey pic.twitter.com/GeVCg7sk1h — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 23, 2020 West Islip took on Tru32 this afternoon at Baseball Heaven. They sent Nick Veiga to the mound and he performed extremely well. He went 5+ innings with three strikeouts and gave up three runs on four hits with two walks.  Tucker Schiavoni gave West Islip an early 2-0 on a 2 run HR in the top of the 2nd inning. I asked him about his HR and he told me “it felt great and it was the first 2 runs of the game. He knew it was gone “once it left his bat”. Then I asked him how his team prepared after giving up a 3-0 lead. He told me “that his pitcher Nick Veiga pitched 5 strong innings”. In the top of the 2nd inning Alex Czarnomski led off with a triple and he came around to score when ...

Mike Steinberg Leads Titans to 3-1 Win Over Next Level

by Ethan Berch That’s the game! A complete game performance by Mike Steinberg seals the deal! Titans win 3-1 over Next Level. pic.twitter.com/C9tKUoWyTp — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 19, 2020 Boys of Summer kicked off its Fall season on a chilly evening at Mitchel Field. The LI Titans took on Next Level Baseball with dominant pitching and small ball taking the headlines in this match up. Mike Steinberg got the nod for the Titans in this one and was able to get himself into a groove very early in this one. Mike commanded a very nasty slider which just about no Next Level hitters were able to handle all night. “The slider was my best pitch by far, I had it working all night and I don’t believe anyone got a hit off of it” said Mike following his performance. Mike’s strong p...

Dodgers Nation has quickly become one of the top programs around and they solidified that capturing the 18U/17U Varsity Division of the LI Boys of Summer. They defeated LI Hawks, 7-4, in the finals at Baseball Heaven on Wednesday evening. This was really a tale of two games, as the first four innings flew by with the Dodgers leading 2-0, while the next three innings were a bit of a slog once both teams got into the opposing team’ bullpen. Ultimately, Dodgers Nation took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. The pitching match up was Nick Inzerillo were the Hawks and Brandon Lombardo for the Dodgers. Both pitchers were effective in the early going, although Inzerillo did need to work around two walks in the bottom of the first before escaping the jam on a fly out to cen...

by Jared Valluzzi Ryan Miller throws a complete game shutout as EastEnd survives and advances with the big victory. pic.twitter.com/y0JIeAgf9y — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 1, 2020 The 18U/17U Varsity Division on Long Island features a lot of talent and the playoffs just started to get underway. East End Aviators snuck into the playoffs as the number 15 seed. While the LI Jr Ducks got the number 2 seed and have been one of the best teams on Long Island. East End came into the game with just 3 wins but they believed fundamental baseball would really help them in this game against a team they lost to twice in the regular season. The Ducks came into the game with 11 wins on the year and proved to be one of the league’s top offenses and looked to continue that today.  ...

by Jared Valluzzi Pitcher Will Karikas on his teams comeback victory pic.twitter.com/2ASXNetl2H — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 25, 2020 In the Boys of Summer 15U summer league here on Long Island it’s been very competitive all summer long. Coming into today’s game had to feature two of the hottest teams in all of Long Island. Freedom Baseball, a group that was 13-4 on the year coming into the match up, has been one of the top defensive teams in this league. During their 7-game win streak they’ve only allowed 1 run per game and have had three shutouts.  They take on the B1000 Seminoles who have won four of their last 5 games and their coaches say when the offense is on they are a very tough team to beat. They’ve done it on both sides of the baseball throughout this hot stretc...

The final two innings dispelled that notion, as the pace slowed significantly. Ultimately, the game ended in a 2-2 tie with Anthony Agosta coming through with a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the 7th with two outs before the time limit halted this one. Bay Shore Captures 2020 LI Boys of Summer Long Island Championship

Bay Shore defeats Plainedge, 4-0, to capture the @liboysofsummer Long Island Championship pic.twitter.com/ESy8KM6mtt — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 18, 2020 22 years ago, Mike Herbst was a part of possibly the most unlikely playoff run in Long Island history when his Longwood Lion team went from 9-9 to a New York State Class AA Championship. While this summer season is a far cry from the gauntlet of running the table in the Suffolk County Section XI postseason, it did resemble it in terms of the improbability of a championship run. After going 0-8 during the regular season of the LI Boys of Summer varsity division, his Bay Shore team caught fire and ultimately won four consecutive elimination games to win the truncated Long Island Championship. They completed the feat this a...
