by Gabe Zoda FINAL: Blue Devils 6, South Shore Elite 5, WP: Sean Jones (5ks, 2BBs, 2ER) South Shore Elite almost able to make the comeback but fall in the first game. pic.twitter.com/7g1IYOLva9 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 15, 2021 Morning baseball is always a great way to start off the day and the same can be said for this LI Boys of Summer game between the South Shore Elite and the Blue Devils. This game took a little bit to get the action going but when it started, it never stopped. At the end of this first game of their scheduled double header, the Blue Devils ended up taking it by the score of 6-5. The game was contested the entire time and was decided only after the final out was recorded. Talking about taking a little bit to get going, the first run of the game wa...
by Nicholas Cipolla Phillip D’Aguanno opens up the scoring with an RBI infield single for Dodger Nation. 1-0 Dodger Nation in the top of the first. pic.twitter.com/hqlceFwVXQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 14, 2021 Dodger Nation decided not to wait until the later innings to score some runs, but they decided to score six of their seven runs in the first inning in game two against the Merrick Nats. After winning the first game on a walk-off triple, the Dodger Nation bats came to play in the first inning. Back to back singles from Anthony Agosta and Luke Costanzo got things going for Dodger Nation. Phillip D’Aguanno brought Agosta home with an RBI infield single to make it 1-0. Zachary Schnabel made it 3-0 with a 2 RBI Triple into the right field gap. James Martin kept the hi...
by Nicholas Cipolla Final: LI Strong wins 7-0 over LIB Tides for the Boys Of Summer Perfect Game Collegiate championship pic.twitter.com/JHAVBXjkFi — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 11, 2021 After a long wait to see who they would be playing in the championship game, LI Strong proved to everyone that they were the best of the best in the 2021 Boys Of Summer Perfect Game Collegiate league. The LI Strong won the championship game by a score of 7-0 as they dominated the entire game from start to finish. The scoring started in the bottom of the first as Kyle Strovink mashed an RBI double to right center to make it a 1-0 game. On the next pitch, Brian Forbes hit an RBI Ground Rule Double to make it a 2-0 game. Danny Deutsch kept his hot streak from the semi-final game going as he hi...
by Nicholas Cipolla The LIB Tides are moving on to the championship game thanks to a walk-off E6 off the bat of Samuel Dickenson. LIB Tides will play shortly against LI Strong in the championship game. pic.twitter.com/QiEeyUvnrk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 11, 2021 The Tides and Aviators waited until the season’s final day and penultimate game of the season to give us arguably the game of the summer in the Boys of Summer Perfect Game League. The game was a marathon (3 hours and 8 minutes long) full of highs and lows for both teams in this game. In the bottom of the first, Samuel Dickenson hit a 2 out RBI single that was just past the first baseman, giving the LIB Tides an early 1-0 lead. In the very next half inning, Stephen Murtsef got an opportunity to tie or pote...
by Nicholas Cipolla Post game interview with Steven Kolm after going 4-4 in todays game for the LI Storm pic.twitter.com/4jorj0UvqD — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 9, 2021 Earlier in the day, it looked like the big rainstorm meteorologists were predicting was going to happen and it would’ve almost certainly canceled this game. However, the weather held up and another type of Storm was able to wreak havoc on the East Islip High School Baseball Field this evening. The LI Storm rode a big 5th inning where they scored six runs, which proved to be too much for the Smithtown Bulls. The Storm drew first blood in the bottom of the 1st inning. Steven Kolm got it started with a single to center. The next batter Alexander Baker smacked a ball into the gap in left center field to give t...
by Aaron Rothschild I had the pleasure yesterday of watching two teams loaded with talent play some ball. The Long Island Titans Farrell and the EastEnd Aviators Anzalone 16u. The Titans would go on to win the game 14-2 in four innings out of a scheduled 9. The Titans came up to bat against Aviator starting pitcher Tyler Lopez, the game would be led off with a leadoff double by EJ Ettinger and a walk would follow. After a pop up, cleanup hitter Scott Northrop would hit a hard ground ball to second taking a funny hop past the second baseman and ending up in deep right center, 2 runs would score and Northrop would find himself on third. A sac fly would bring in Northrop and after consecutive walks and a double steal Myles Maldanado would plate two more with a single making it a 5-0 game. ...
by Nicholas Cipolla Final: Jr Ducks: 4 EastEnd Aviators: 4 Great play by the Jr Ducks Shortstop to end the game pic.twitter.com/o2rgXEpNbp — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 5, 2021 For the first time this summer, I witnessed a great game of baseball where someone didn’t have to lose. The LI Jr Ducks Kerman and the EastEnd Aviators 14u displayed some late game heroics in the bottom of the 6th, Top of the 7th, and the bottom of the 7th as well. As much as tie games stink, this was a game that both teams deserved to win. After both teams worked into and out of trouble, the Jr Ducks were able to draw first blood in the top of the 2nd. The starting pitcher for the Jr Ducks, Tyler Popko led off the inning with a double to deep left field. He was able to advance to third on a passed b...
by Gabe Zoda FINAL: BEAST RED 2, B1000 SEMINOLES 1. The Beast came into this game with 7 players and ended up taking this game home. pic.twitter.com/7l9qYsclFA — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 3, 2021 There was a fire in the Beast’s eyes yesterday and it allowed them to overcome a disadvantage and turn it slightly into their favor. As the season winds down in the LI Boys of Summer PG Collegiate League season, the Beast Red played against B1000 Seminoles Ferriggi. In a day slotted for a DH, they ended up playing only one game to 9 innings due to a lack of players. This lack of players would be an issue for both sides but one team suffered more than the other. That team would be the Beast Red squad as they would play a majority of the game with 7 players. The Seminoles had 9 s...
by Gabe Zoda In the bottom of the 6th the FS Hitmen comeback and WALK IT OFF ON THIS BROKEN PLAY. Jay Gigante scored the winning run. pic.twitter.com/gs3LSSL3FD — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 29, 2021 Some of the best feeling wins in baseball come from comebacks and walk-offs. Luckily for everyone in attendance at this 13u matchup between the LI Jr Ducks and the FS Hitmen, we got to see both. This game was one of the most back-and-forth games of the season. These teams traded blows and scored in all but 2 innings. The scoring showed itself in the scoreboard as well as the final score would end up 9-8 in favor of the FS Hitmen. The Jr. Ducks would land the first punch in the top of the 1st. They would score 1 from a single from Max Rayburn to make that happen. Before that sin...
by Nicholas Cipolla Steve Vlahopoulos crushed a 2 out double that hit the wall in left field. The score is now tied at one in the sixth inning pic.twitter.com/hvjLuxcHZy — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 28, 2021 Ryan Annunziato was clutch when the Dodgers needed him most, at the bat and on the mound. Before any of this happens, we need to talk about the first three-and-a-half innings. During that timeframe, we were treated to a pitchers’ duel. We had almost no offense throughout these innings and both teams’ defenses were playing mistake-free baseball, that is until the bottom of the fourth inning. With a runner on second and two outs, Nick Schimmel hit a ground ball to third base, the throw was wide and pulled the first baseman into Schimmel where he unfortunately c...
