LIB Select Sweeps Doubleheader Over LI Storm

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with Doug Davies after LIB Select swept tonight’s doubleheader over LI Storm pic.twitter.com/1Y7wRynKz3 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 24, 2022 Game 1: In the first game of a doubleheader between LIB Select and LI Storm, we were treated to some exciting baseball as a pair of late inning rallies helped LIB Select claim victory in game 1. The action started early as Doug Davies came up in the top of the first with a man on third and two outs. Davies stayed back on an outside fastball and drove it the other way into right field for a 2 out RBI Single to make it a 1-0 LIB Select lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Davies worked a 1-2-3 inning on the mound and remained perfect through his first two innings of work. LI Storm would have a big th...

B1000 Seminoles Cruise to Run-Rule Victory Over LI Orioles

Paul Mata slices a 2-R double down the right field line and B1000 opens up a 12-2 lead in the fifth pic.twitter.com/VLvVmBrPH4 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 16, 2022 The B1000 Seminoles batted 13 players in their lineup on Saturday and were able to bat around in the second and third innings. By the time the third out was recorded in the third inning, they held a commanding 10-0 lead. They took a modest 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Ryan Plocker, but the real fun began in the second inning for them. It all began with a leadoff walk – as is usually the case with big innings – to Aidan Amato. Starting pitcher Joe Bello, more on him in a bit, double to left field and the bases were loaded up with a walk. Paul Mata, who was a big part of South Side&#...

Jackson Barnett Goes the Distance in 5-2 Victory for Kings Park

By Blake Buscemi Jackson Barnett shuts it down, going through distance and only allowing 2 runs. Kings Park wins the first game of the doubleheader. Final: Kings Park 5, Black Diamonds 2 pic.twitter.com/oUVAGDo6zv — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 16, 2022 The Black Diamonds and the Kings Park Pride faced off at PAL Complex Saturday morning in a Boys of Summer 13U matchup. Both lineups were filled with talent from top to bottom, so we were in store for a competitive ballgame.  Jackson Barnett took the mound for the Pride. He’s a big, projectable kid with a pitcher’s build and a great feel for pitching at such a young age. He made a statement immediately, striking out Matt Tomasello, inducing a groundout from Joey Petrucelly, and striking out Nikola Cespe looking.  Joey Petrucelly...

DeFrancesco’s Bases Clearing Hit Propels B1 Seminoles to 7-6 Win

Coach Mike Skoller following the Game 1 victory for B1000 Seminoles @liboysofsummer pic.twitter.com/dworrxgXQl — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 10, 2022 by Aaron Rothschild Yesterday afternoon featured a great matchup of 16U teams as the LI Storm faced off against the B1000 Seminoles-Skoller. It was a game that included great defense and pitching as well as some very timely hitting late. By the end of the game the Seminoles came out with a 7-6 victory and this is how we got there.  Both teams received outstanding starting pitching, for the Storm Left handed starter Xander Palmer was terrific. And for the Seminoles Sean Stoney was nearly untouchable.  The first run of the game did not come until the top of the third when Troy Defrancesco knocked in a run on a single after a flurr...

Storm Chasers Sweep Friday Night Lights Double Header

FINAL: Storm Chasers sweep the Friday Night Lights double header Storm Chasers: 4 Roughriders: 2 pic.twitter.com/F3AJbhRu7W — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 9, 2022 by Chris Prystupa There was good old-fashioned summer night under-the-lights baseball played today between the Garden City RoughRiders and the Storm Chasers. The Storm Chasers would go on to play well on both sides and allow them to come away with two wins this Friday.  Game one of the double header got started right away as the Storm Chasers got on the board early. Timmy Lynch, who also was the starting pitcher, hit a dribbler for a fielder’s choice that allowed the first run of the evening to come across. He would go all five innings on the mound, doing a great job of working through any potential big innings by es...

Nick Kostulias Fires Gem in 6-0 Victory for LI Elite

By Blake Buscemi Nick Koustulias goes the distance today, throwing a complete game shutout. The game was called due to a time limit, so it ended in an LI Elite victory after the top of the 6th. Nick takes us through what allowed him to dominate today. Final: LI Elite 6, B1000 Seminoles 0 pic.twitter.com/Dfu5iP2Mgj — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2022 A 17u Boys of Summer league matchup took place at the PAL complex in Holtsville on Saturday. Facing off against each other was the Long Island Elite Showcase squad against the B1000 Seminoles-Timpone. Nick Kostulias took the hill for the Elite against Chris Bohan of the Seminoles. Aviators Ride Late Inning Rally to Beat the Storm Chasers

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with Zane Chirco after his 3 RBI performance (including the go-ahead RBI in the top of the 6th) in the Aviators come from behind victory pic.twitter.com/TkHE6P1Ust — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 30, 2022 There is one thing that will always be true about the game of baseball, anything can happen at any given moment throughout the game. This wasn’t any ordinary Wednesday evening 14U game at PAL Stadium in Holbrook, New York. This game was one full of blown leads, comebacks, and clutch moments. Both teams didn’t waste too much time early on as in the bottom of the first the Storm Chasers put runners on first and second with one out. Aviators starting pitcher Craig Burkhardt used his inside pickoff move to pick off a base runner and record the fi...

Luke Girillo Dominates in Dodgers Nation Dovas’ Victory

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with Luke Girillo who threw a complete game, 2 hit shutout for Dodgers Nation @liboysofsummer pic.twitter.com/9rJkaJclND — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 28, 2022 To say that Luke Girillo (Manhasset) was on his “A-Game” in his most recent outing against LI Titans Pendl is a modest answer.  Girillo absolutely shoved today, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 9 batters in a complete game (6 inning) shutout, guiding Dodgers Nation to a 7-0 victory. He overpowered the opposing hitters with his hard fastball and kept them on their toes by mixing in a nasty changeup as well. Dodgers Nation broke the game open in the first inning, after a leadoff walk by Justin Dumeng, Vincent Graff would knock him in with an RBI double to deep right-center to make ...

by Chris Prystupa Here’s Jason Berthel from LI Elite, he takes us through what it felt like to be the one to close this game out and preserve the shutout in a 3-0 win over the Farmingdale Greendogs. @liboysofsummer pic.twitter.com/Li5hKyzvhD — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 24, 2022 It was quite a pitcher’s duel for both teams in tonight’s LI Boys Of Summer matchup between the LI Elite and the Farmingdale Greendogs. Both teams remained tied at zero through seven full innings.  The Greendogs sent Jake Dunn to the mound in the first and he and his counterpart, Joe Cavallaro, were both dominant throughout the early innings. In the third inning, LI Elite was yearning to get the scoring started as they managed to get a baserunner into scoring position early on in the inning. Ja...

By Chris Prystupa Here’s Doug Davies from Long Island Baseball as he takes us through his at-bat where he hit a double bringing home the go-head run leading to a 4-3 game one victory pic.twitter.com/z1U5oMuRxE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 18, 2022 It was a beautiful day for two games at West Babylon HS as the 16U Team Francisco Prime took on the 16U Long Island Baseball-Select (LIB). Both teams played well in each game but LIB ultimately came away with two wins.  In game one of the double header, LIB wasted no time as they scored two runs thanks to an error and a RBI single by Dylan Cantwell. Just as quickly as they jumped out to a two run lead, Team Francisco responded back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. They were able to capitalize on a wild pitch and ...

Titans Quattrini Make an Early Season Statement

by Nick Cipolla Postgame interview with Alex Golub and Anthony Dinello after the Titans Victory over Team Francisco pic.twitter.com/Q7Iqku7XUK — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 9, 2022 The LI Titans-Quattrini are going to be a problem for many other teams this summer – if today was any indication.  The Titans came away with a 9-0 run-rule victory, showing a balanced attack up-and-down the lineup against Team Francisco Notorious 9. Offensively, everyone in the Titans lineup reached base at least once in this early season Boys of Summer League matchup. Some notable performances came from Anthony Dinello who kept a big rally going in the third inning by hitting an opposite field 2 run single. Alex Golub was responsible for knocking in 3 of the 9 runs scored by the Titans. He h...
