Summer Ball is Over – What’s Next?
It’s been another thrilling year of baseball and that’s not just limited to the high school and college season. The good times have continued right through summer ball where we covered the Hamptons League, Boys of Summer, Blue Chip Collegiate League and several Blue Chip tournaments – not to mention the annual Axcess Invitational. So what’s next? In less than two weeks we will have coverage of the East Coast Youth Labor Day Bash (September 2-5th). The following weekend we will be hosting the first annual Axcess World Series which will feature 12 teams from around Long Island at the Charles Wang Athletic Complex. We will also cover the LI Boys of Summer Fall League as well as a pair of Town of Brookhaven Fall tournaments, Blue Chip Prospect tournaments and, of course...

The Plainedge sophomore fired five strong innings and even contributed a sac fly at the plate to get his offense going in the third inning. The game was played at a brisk pace – it was completed in just over 90 minutes thanks to strong pitching on both sides. The Voodoo started the game off with an RBI triple off the bat of their right fielder to take an early 1-0 lead. They quickly followed it up with another RBI single by their starting pitcher Tyler Anderson to make it a 2-run lead, another runner would be walked in and before he even stepped foot on the mound it was a 3-0 game. Team Francisco took home the fall season championship in a 3-1 victory in 6 innings as they had to battle not just LIB, but also the fading sunlight as daylight savings time began today. This meant that the sunset today was at approximately 4:40 and this game (slated for 1:30) was pushed back to a 2:57 pm first pitch due to a semi-final game concluding on the site of the championship game. The Seminoles took Game 1 of the doubleheader over the LI Empire by a score of 2-1. The key to this game for the Seminoles was clean defense and two runs early in the game to set the tone. The Mustangs entered play with a record of 1-2, while this was the second game of the year for the 1-0 LI Titans.
