  Photo Credit: Molloy Lions The Molloy Lions took three of four from the struggling Queens College this weekend to improve to 19-16 on the season.After winning the first game 11-1 on Friday night, which we recapped, they won Game 1 of Saturday’s DH 4-3. They were down 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but came to life in the bottom of the seventh.Kyle Van Duyne hit a sacrifice fly to score John Galanoudis and get the Lions on the board. In the eighth inning, they cut the lead to 3-2 on an error by the second baseman to score Anthony Alberghina. Shea Spitzbarth Fans 13 in Rout of Queens

Photo Credit: Molloy Athletics The formula for Molloy has been simply–pound the baseball or hope one of their two aces is on the hill. Today, they were fortunate enough to have both occur. They scored six runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and Shea Spitzbarth was dominant over six innings–with 13 strikeouts–in their 11-1 victory over Queens.Spitzbarth has been phenomenal all year, he now has 66 strikeouts in 45 innings and three wins. He allowed only two hits and walked four batters against an over matched Queens lineup that entered the game hitting .190. Combine those numbers with an All-Conference pitcher like Spitzbarth and you see numbers like that.Queens also committed five errors, which happened to be one more than the amount of hits they compiled. Molloy Sweeps Nyack With Epic Slugfest

Photo Credit: Molloy Athletics Last weekend the Molloy Lions showcased their power arms in a great four-game series against LIU Post. Yesterday, they turned the clock back to 1998 and won two slug fests against Nyack by the scores of 18-17 and 13-8. In Game One, they led 12-7 entering the top of the sixth when Nyack erupted for eight runs to open up a three-run lead. Nyack added two in the seventh, appearing that they had opened the game up. The Lions responded with two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth, thanks to RBI singles by John Galanoudis, Michael Rahn and Kyle Van Duyne.  They recorded 20 hits in the game and benefited from six Nyack errors. Photo Credit: Vinny Messana Division-I: Hofstra: The Pride defeated Manhattan 4-2. They trailed 2-1 in the seventh but they scored three runs–highlighted by Ryan Donovan‘s two-run single. Brad Witkowski tied the game at 2 with an RBI double. They compiled only four hits in the game, but it did not matter. Brian MacDonald got the start for Hofstra–he threw six inning, allowing one ER on seven hits while striking out six. He received the no-decision. Bobby Kelly Improves to 2-0 With Eight Strong Innings

True to form, sophomore Bobby Kelly led them to a 4-1 win over reigning ECC Champion St. Thomas Aquinas.Kelly improves to 2-0 on the season–he struck out seven, allowed only six hits and allowed just the lone run. His ERA is now 2.68 on the young season.The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Kevin Podell. Two innings later, he duplicated the feat–driving in Deilyn Guzman.
