Q & A With Aidan Bardi

Almost three years to do the day, we did a feature story on a young player in the Wantagh district who put himself on the map by crushing 18 home runs in Cooperstown – and 73 home runs over the course of the season overall. It was met with skepticism by some in the Long Island baseball community, who questioned the accuracy of the information. Those same people are left with nothing to complain about after watching the performance of that same young player since that time. Aidan Bardi, now entering his junior year at Wantagh HS, recently announced his verbal commitment to the University of Maine. Bardi has been a no-brainer Division-I player in my eyes since I did that story on him and watched his aggressive swing and flawless mechanics. Bardi was one of the few freshman in Keith Sac...

Q & A With Nicholas Delvecchio

Holy Trinity entered 2022 with a talented roster – albeit a younger one. Coming off a difficult season, they were hoping that their large group of 2023s and 2024s gained valuable experience from that 2021 season. Turns out, that’s exactly what happened. Led by one of the best pitchers on Long Island in Sadier Vicioso, they were able to go toe-to-toe against any team during the regular season. Ultimately, they lost in the playoffs to St. John the Baptist but it was a successful season for the program. Additionally, their position players all matured quickly – notably catcher Tyler Cook (Catcher of the Year), infielders Sebastian Velazquez and Nicholas Delvecchio. The latter just announced his verbal commitment to Long Island University. He plays his summer ball for Knights...

NY Longhorns Sweep Friday Night DH From Knights Nation

On a night where the Mets and Yankees kicked off the Subway Series, two other teams familiar with one another squared up under the lights at Cantiague Park. Game 1: The NY Longhorns were in control for much of this game until the last inning. They did fall behind 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI single by Joe Meyer to left field which scored Jake D’Amico but he was thrown out trying to stretch into a double. Longhorns’ RHP Marco Comande ended the inning with a groundout to first base. They faced Knights RHP Lucas Schwabe. The hard-thrower worked around a single to Comande in the first inning with a 9-3 double play initiated by the right fielder to escape the inning. Comande settled in with a 1-2-3 second inning with two strikeouts to get his offense back in the dugout. The Lon...
