Shea Spitzbarth Fans 13 in Rout of Queens

Photo Credit: Molloy Athletics The formula for Molloy has been simply–pound the baseball or hope one of their two aces is on the hill. Today, they were fortunate enough to have both occur. They scored six runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and Shea Spitzbarth was dominant over six innings–with 13 strikeouts–in their 11-1 victory over Queens.Spitzbarth has been phenomenal all year, he now has 66 strikeouts in 45 innings and three wins. He allowed only two hits and walked four batters against an over matched Queens lineup that entered the game hitting .190. Combine those numbers with an All-Conference pitcher like Spitzbarth and you see numbers like that.Queens also committed five errors, which happened to be one more than the amount of hits they compiled. Molloy had nine...

Connor McCarthy Throws Two-Hitter in 3-0 Shutout of Molloy

As mentioned earlier, great pitching duels are a staple of the LIU Post-Molloy rivalry. In the first game of the double header it was Alex Brosnan who was dominant. In the second game, LIU Post’s Connor McCarthy threw a seven inning shutout in a 3-0 victory.McCarthy, a graduate student from Clarke HS, allowed only two singles while striking out four and allowing only walk against Molloy.Tom Asbaty reached on a throwing error by the 3b to score Kenny Daley and get the Pioneers on the board in the second inning. They increased the lead to 2-0 when David Groeneveld hit an RBI single to score Asbaty. That was all the support needed for McCarthy. For good measure, the Pioneers added a run in the fourth inning when Anthony Brunetti singled home Rick Alessi. The Pioneers won the three-game se...

It was their third win of the season. Hofstra pulled off an upset at St. John’s with a 6-4 victory. They used a four-run second inning off Alex Katz to get all the offense they needed. Brad Wit...

Bobby Kelly Improves to 2-0 With Eight Strong Innings
